Disney World rides can’t run forever, unfortunately. Sometimes, they need a little TLC, or their time has run out.
Disney does their best to tell us about these scheduled closures ahead of time so you can plan your trips around them if it’s a ride you really want to experience. Here are three attraction closures you’ll want to watch out for in 2024 if you’re planning a trip!
MAGIC KINGDOM
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Yes, the former Splash Mountain ride is being transformed into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
And we have some great news regarding the reimagined attractions, which was initially slated to open in “late 2024…”
In February, Disney announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open EARLIER than expected in Disney World… get ready to ride in SUMMER 2024!
Country Bear Jamboree
A NEW SHOW is coming to Country Bear Jamboree in Magic Kingdom! The beloved bears are learning an all-new act — they’ll sing their classic songs in NEW styles like country, rockabilly, and bluegrass.
Country Bear Musical Jamboree will be a take on the classic variety shows found in Nashville, Tennessee, and Nashville musicians are involved in the new arrangements. For instance. we’ll be hearing a new version of “Bare Necessities” in a rockabilly style! A Disney Imagineer has shared, “The music is going to be amazing, and the show will still have the fun and friendly tone that we all love about the Country Bears.”
And these changes are coming SOON… Country Bear Jamboree officially CLOSED on January 27th, 2024 for the refurbishment. Disney announced that the new show will make its debut THIS SUMMER.

DISNEY’S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in Hollywood Studios is a fun, fast-paced coaster that features music (and a pre-ride show) by Aerosmith. As of January 8th, 2024, the ride has closed for a lengthy refurbishment.
Though a specific reopening date has not yet been announced, the Disney World website states that the popular attraction will reopen in summer 2024.
Mickey Shorts Theater
The Mickey Shorts Theater has closed for a temporary refurbishment. Opened in 2020, the Mickey Shorts Theater is home to Vacation Fun, an original short that features Mickey and Minnie with clips from Panda-monium, Couples Sweaters, Potatoland, Croissant de Triomphe, Entombed, Dumb Luck, Al Rojo Vivo, Yodelburg, and Outback at Ya!.
The Disney World refurbishment calendar now shows the Mickey Shorts Theater will reopen on May 25th, 2024.
EPCOT
On June 17th, Test Track, which is located in EPCOT’s World Discovery, will temporarily close so the ride can be — in Disney speak — reimagined!
Disney hasn’t released too many details about what the updated ride experience will be like just yet, but they did mention that it will take inspiration from World of Motion, the ride that was originally there when the park opened in 1982! At this time, a reopening timeline has not been announced, but we’ll keep you posted!

Frozen Ever After
Frozen Ever After is one of the most popular rides in EPCOT, Frozen Ever After is one of the most popular rides in EPCOT, which is why it’s especially important to give you a heads up on a closure this fall.
Be aware that Frozen Ever After will be closed for a short time later this year, from November 2nd through November 6th, 2024.
BLIZZARD BEACH
For the past few years, only one of Disney World’s two water parks (Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach) has been open at a time, even during the summer months.
Right now, Typhoon Lagoon is open while Blizzard Beach is closed. It goes without saying (but we’ll say it anyway) that when one water park is closed, those rides and attractions will be completely inaccessible during your trip.
Keep in mind, too, though, that both water parks will close for cold weather, which can happen often during the winter months.
Disney can also announce future closures at any time, but we keep a close eye on them here at DFB, so stay tuned to our blog for all the latest news!

It would be amazing if Disney changed Kali River Rapids into a Jungle Book attraction. Blow out the back flume loop and add a show building…so it would be more like the river rapids attraction in Shanghai…part indoor and part outside. It’s just screaming for this IP update.
