Disney World hotels have been going through a lot recently.
Tons of hotels are currently going through lots of construction, and while we’re excited for the transformations to be complete, some of them are hard to navigate right now. Not to mention that ever since the park closures in 2020, many Disney hotels haven’t returned fully to their former glory. Here are four hotel perks Disney World STILL isn’t offering.
Resort Hotel Delivery
One of the biggest perks of staying at a Disney World hotel was getting your park souvenirs sent back to your hotel for you. If you were shopping around the park and purchased a souvenir you didn’t want to carry around with you for the rest of the day, but also didn’t want to stop back at your resort, you could ask the store to send it back to your hotel.
You’d inform the store in the parks where you were staying, and they would deliver the item(s) to your hotel’s gift shop for you to pick up after a certain time that day. This service was included in the price of your hotel stay.
Now, since this isn’t available, you’ll need to rent a locker, or not buy your souvenirs until the end of the night, which can be hard if you’re park hopping.
The Old Extra Magic Hours
While Disney World has brought back extra time in the parks for hotel guests, it’s not what it used to be. Previously, Extra Magic Hours was a perk offered to ALL Disney World hotel guests and was available at a limited number of parks per day. Hotel guests could enter a park early and/or stay in a park late, depending on the schedule.
Right now, we have Early Theme Park Entry and Extended Evening Hours. Early Theme Park Entry is offered to all Disney World hotel guests at all parks, all days. However, Extended Evening Hours is only offered on select nights and available to Deluxe Disney World Hotels, Deluxe Villas, and select other qualifying hotels.
These perks were introduced for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, but have now been extended through 2024.
Special Classes and Programs
Did you know there was once a free culinary tour offered at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge that highlighted its restaurants? Yeah, that hasn’t returned yet either.
However, some of these have returned, such as the Wonders of the Lodge Art and Architecture Tour at Wilderness Lodge. This tour is about an hour long and teaches all about the theming of the resort.
We hope to see more of these special classes and programs return soon — it makes staying at a Disney hotel even more worth the price!
Access to Select Restaurants
Unfortunately, there are still a few hotel restaurants that we also haven’t seen reopen (and some of them we’re starting to really wonder if they ever will…).
Two of these restaurants are the beloved 1900 Park Fare and the Garden View Tea Room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, one of the more expensive hotels on property.
While Disney hasn’t announced anything about the fate of these spots yet, they have been giving the other restaurants around the hotel some facelifts, so they could just be planning to update them!
We’ll be sure to update you if any of these perks return, so stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news!

Magical express is the only perk I really miss.
Shipping souvenirs back to the hotel was nice, but I consider this a money saver as I just don’t buy them until end of day and if I remember.
Never a morning person so early morning 30 minutes no big deal, late night use to be 3 hours which I miss.
1900 park fare, while the food was just ok, the characters were what made that restaurant great. Of all the characters dinners this was by far the best.
