We recently learned that Disney After Hours events are returning to Disney World!

Cinderella Castle
Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and EPCOT are each having returning events so you can stay up to three hours extra in the parks after it’s officially closed if you purchase a ticket to one of the events. But that’s not all that Disney sneaked into the announcement. Almost quietly, Disney sneaked in another bit of information about what will be coming to Magic Kingdom during those events!
Magic Kingdom is home to many classic rides like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean. There is also a much newer ride tucked in Tomorrowland–Tron Lightcycle / Run.
Since TRON’s opening in April of this year, we have only seen the queue work as a virtual queue (and Individual Lightning Lane) that you could “enter” via the My Disney Experience app two times a day on normal days. Then, when parties arrived at the park, like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary-Halloween Party, you could have another chance to get a boarding group in the virtual queue as the party started.
But now, Disney has announced that — for the first time since we could ride it in Disney World — TRON will have a standby queue during the Disney After Hours events! This will only take place during the event, as far as we’ve seen, not during regular park hours, when TRON will continue to have the virtual queue.
So if you needed another excuse to purchase the tickets for the After Hours event, this is it! And during the event, you’ll be able to see the fireworks show Enchantment again, with the opportunity to see both Enchantment and Happily Ever After if you arrive early enough.
Magic Kingdom After Hours will be starting January 11th, Hollywood Studios After Hours will be starting January 10th, and EPCOT After Hours will be starting February 2nd. If you’re staying at a Disney World Resort hotel, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, or Shades of Green, you can start purchasing tickets on November 7th, and all other guests can purchase them on November 14th.
These nights are going to be quite the after-parties. We are looking forward to the extra magic, shorter wait times, and all the complimentary treats. We’ll see you there!
