You have SO many options when it comes to planning out your day in Walt Disney World.
Will you go to THIS restaurant for breakfast before heading to THAT park and riding that OTHER ride and picking up the LATEST souvenir? It’s enough to make your head spin. And on top of all that, will you rope drop too? Let’s take a beat, de-stress, and work on the plan together. We’ve got a pro tip for you. Here it is: When you want to have a good day in Walt Disney World, there’s a meal you HAVE to skip. Let’s talk about it!
When it comes to making the most of your day at Disney World, every minute counts. From the rides to the parades, there’s just so much to see and do that you might not feel you can do it all. So, let’s talk about a little “secret” that can make your day at Disney World even more fulfilling. It involves the tough decision to skip that traditional breakfast and dive straight into the magic. We’re advising you to take full advantage of those precious “rope drop” moments.
We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But at Disney World, the rules are a bit different. So, why would you want to skip breakfast when you’re about to have a day filled with excitement, you ask? Well, here’s the scoop:
For those who don’t know, rope-dropping a park means you arrive at the park BEFORE it opens. You are usually allowed to go ahead and scan in and walk to a point in the park where Cast Members are holding the crowd until opening time. This gives you a “head start” on the crowds. Most people who rope drop quickly head to some of a park’s most popular rides, to get in line and be one of the first to ride before the lines get long.
Now, just to be clear, when we talk about skipping breakfast in favor of rope dropping, we don’t mean starving yourself. Disney offers quick breakfast options like muffins, pastries, and fresh fruit. Grab one on the go before entering the park, and you’ll save a TON of time, and that extra time means you can hit those popular rides without the lengthy lines.
Mornings at Disney really are like no other time of the day. The park feels fresh and filled with endless possibilities. Plus, the morning weather tends to be cooler, making the rides Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Big Thunder Mountain even more enjoyable.
If meeting Disney characters is your thing, then since you’ll be there early, this works in your favor! Since it’s not as hot, you might find those character meet-and-greets to be a bit livelier, and if the lines are shorter, you might get more time for autographs, pics, and more time with your favorite Disney icons.
Plan Your Meals Wisely
Now, just because you’re going to skip the traditional sit-down breakfast, DON’T GO HUNGRY ALL DAY!! Use some of that extra time to make reservations for brunch or lunch at one of your favorite dining spots. And don’t forget to stay hydrated and keep some snacks handy!
Grabbing Starbucks first thing is NOT the way to go!
You’ll find that a lot of people will go straight to Starbucks after they get into the park. While we also love our Starbucks drinks, this seems like a waste of time.
When rope dropping, the first 10-15 minutes are crucial. After about 15 minutes, the lines at the rides will start to go up A LOT. So instead of standing in line for coffee right away, knock out some rides FIRST! Then, when the lines start filling up, go back to Starbucks.
Rope dropping may not be everybody’s idea of a good time, like the people who enjoy sleeping in on a vacation. But if your goal is to ride as many rides as possible, skipping that traditional breakfast and rope dropping might be the technique for you!
