A BIG change might be coming to the McDonald’s menu SOON!

A McDonald’s burger just might be the perfect “it’s late and I’m hungry and I don’t want to wait for a long meal and also nothing else is open but secretly I wanted junk food anyway” snack. Now, however, our beloved burgers might be getting a pretty serious upgrade!

In an interview with CNN, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said that burgers at the Golden Arches will soon be getting BIGGER. Kempczinski said, “In the US, in a number of markets, around the world, having a larger burger is an opportunity.” He confirmed that it’s not just a concept: “We’re working on that. That is something that you should expect in the future.”

Another representative stated that the change comes from customer demand: “We’ve listened to our customers. And we understand their desire for larger, high-quality burgers that fill you up.”

CNN reports that McDonald’s will test out the bigger burgers at some stores and then expand to more locations once they’ve found the best bigger burger.

But with a bigger burger surely comes a bigger price tag, right? Inflation has absolutely affected many fast food chains, but CEO Kempczinski has said that the new option “shouldn’t break the bank.” He said, “We think we’re going to be able to deliver a great tasting large burger at a superior value to what [customers] can get anywhere else.”

This isn’t the only change coming to McDonald’s burgers! The Wall Street Journal reported recently that McDonald’s is revamping many of their hamburgers, including the famous Big Mac.

Some changes that could happen include smaller batches of patties being cooked for a more uniform sear, more special sauce on the Big Mac, fresher lettuce and pickles, more melty cheese, and a new buttery brioche bun with more randomly scattered sesame seeds for a “homemade look.”

But wait — there’s more! McDonald’s is really in its transformation era right now. Have you heard of the NEW spin-off restaurant called CosMc’s? The restaurant — named for the McDonald’s alien character — is opening its first location in Illinois, and we’ve already gotten a sneak peek at the menu for this brand-new spot.

CosMc’s seems like a cross between Starbucks and Sonic, with its drive-thru-only layout and a menu full of drinks, both caffeinated and not. However, you’ll still see some old McDonald’s favorites there, like Egg McMuffin breakfast sandwiches and McFlurries.

More CosMc’s locations could be coming if this first location in Illinois does well. CNBC reported, “The first location is in Bolingbrook, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, with about 10 additional locations set to open in Texas in 2024.”

Although the new restaurant is an exciting switch-up from the traditional McDonald’s restaurant, executives at the fast food giant still plan on focusing mainly on those classic McD’s restaurants. Kempczinski said, “The vast majority of what we’re going to build are going to be our traditional restaurants. There probably will be some restaurants that are drive-thru and delivery only, but that’s going to be the minority.”

According to CNN, “the burger chain plans to have 50,000 locations globally by 2027.”
