If you pay attention, you can learn the Disney lingo pretty quickly. You’ve got your basic acronyms, like AP for “Annual Passholder” or DAK for “Disney’s Animal Kingdom.” But then there are some made-up words you should probably know, too, like “MagicBand+,” “Lightning Lane,” and “PhotoPass.” Even Disney executives like to use special lingo, and yes, we keep a secret tally every time CEO Bob Iger uses words like “bullish” or “metaverse.”
But now, a new word has entered Disney’s vocabulary. We first heard the word earlier in 2023, but now, it seems like that one, single word keeps popping up EVERYWHERE! Coincidence? You tell us!
Alright, let’s go back in time to 2023. At Disney’s Q4 earnings call, Bob Iger laid out four big priorities for The Walt Disney Company. One of the main goals stated at the earnings call was “Turbocharging growth in the Experiences business.”
Specifically, Disney hinted it would soon announce a 10-year plan for parks and experiences. With a promised $60 billion set aside for the Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products segment of the company, it seems like Disney has big plans for the future. The details are still unclear, but many fans are speculating that part of that $60 billion budget will go towards a MEGA Magic Kingdom park expansion or a new land in Animal Kingdom.
So, what’s the magic word? Well, on April 3rd, 2024, Disney held its Annual Shareholder Meeting, where we learned more about a new Avatar theme park project and got some confirmation on a few upcoming films. The word of the day? TURBOCHARGED! We heard Iger use the word during the question-and-answer portion of the meeting and later spotted the word pop up in more Disney content published that same day. In fact, Iger went so far as to call it a “tremendous turbocharge” when discussing Disney’s plans.
Here’s that fancy word again in a Disney news headline posted by Josh D’Amaro.
That’s not all! Disney shared a teaser trailer for a NEW series titled We Call It Imagineering. In the description, one word in particular caught our eye. Yep, they did it again. They mentioned the word “turbocharged” in the new series description.
Disney said, “Inspired by how Walt took us along during the development of Disneyland, this new series brings you into the creative and design journey as we turbocharge our Disney Experiences. We can’t wait to bring you along as Disney Imagineers create these innovative new experiences for the next decade and beyond!”
So, Disney, is this a sign? Why the fixation on that word? Do you need a thesaurus? Ok, ok, we’re kidding. But with such a clear pattern, it seems like Disney is truly trying to put an emphasis on GROWTH and development. We know that Disney wants to expand its parks, but Iger later clarified that this plan will be taking place during the second half of Disney’s 10-year plan for parks and experiences. This means the “turbo” in “turbocharged” may be a slow launch rather than an explosive blastoff.
Now that you know about Disney’s new favorite word, you might start seeing it EVERYWHERE! In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

I think they need to put all this Park expa.sion crap on hold for a couple year. One or all of the parks have had major construction for nearly the last 10 years.
How about giving us a break from constructions walls and let us enjoy what is there. For just a little while.

First and foremost, BRING BACK MAGICAL EXPRESS!!!! Second, GET RID OF LIGHTNING LANES AND BRING BACK FASTPASS! Finally, GET RID OF GENIE+. We already paid an arm and a leg to get in. Stop charging us more for things that should be free with admission!!! Essentially, have wdw be the way it was before covid! Other thoughts: I hope the new MK land will be more about Indy and the live Jungle Book starring Jason Scott Lee or even Coco than Encanto though perhaps they belong more in Animal Kingdom (I do love Mexico though!). Wish AK had kept the Pocahontas show plus Camp Mickey and Minnie. And wish they would not ignore the original shows that made Walt and Disney famous. Walt did some cartoons during the war years with Mickey and Donald in Mexico. In general, wish they would not ignore favorite characters from older movies. Have no interest in a villains land. In the parks, particularly in AK, wish they would get rid of every other place selling liquor! They got rid of my favorite African themed restaurant to build an expensive buffet and outdoor bar! Though I’ll admit the food at Harambe market is good. And wish they put back the shops selling nice(r) African goods. I wish they would build more affordable yet themed hotels. We’re not all rich, you know! Stop catering to dvc members. There are more of us than them! I’d love to see one in a Morocco, India, or Greece theme. Or had hoped they would add the other five decades at Pop Century. Also wish they would stop ruining already built hotels like Coronado and Polynesian with those ugly Dvc towers ruining the landscape and views. Would love to see more countries in Epcot. I remember 2000 and they had many countries under a huge tent. They ruined Norway by taking out the maelstrom ride and putting in Frozen which is a bust with me plus removing all the Norwegian souvenirs, woolens, xmas, etc. How about adding Sweden or Finland or Denmark? Or Ireland? Wish they had gone ahead with Mary Poppins. Wish they had more storytelling rides and fewer rides that make one sick and scared. Walt would never have approved! He built Disneyland so that everyone at any age and ability could ride but I can’t ride most anymore. Loved the movie ride in Hollywood Studios. Very entertaining! Not fast or too dark. Ditto the haunted mansion in MK. Pirates of the Caribbean fun but so dark can barely see anything! Disappointed to hear they are going to change It’s a Small World. My favorite E ride was 20,000 leagues under the Sea so I wish they’d bring that or similar back. Would love a Moana water ride. Arcades at resorts are too small and crowded. Too noisy. Too many unattended, misbehaving children. Too many new, electronic games. Wish they had more of the older and fun games and they definitely need more skeeball lanes!! How about a new themed mini golf?! I miss being able to walk through Cinderella’s castle…

One of the best days I had at MK a few years ago was the Muppets show in Liberty Square. Sure wish they’d bring that back!

Norma is absolutely right! “First and foremost, BRING BACK MAGICAL EXPRESS!!!! Second, GET RID OF LIGHTNING LANES AND BRING BACK FASTPASS! Finally, GET RID OF GENIE+. We already paid an arm and a leg to get in. Stop charging us more for things that should be” included ” with admission!!!” I substituted included for free in Norma’s quote.

Turbocharged is exactly that, raising prices faster then the speed of light…. Taking away things that were included in the price of admission, then bringing them back at a coat. Disney is now only about the money..
