Getting kicked out of a Disney park is probably the last thing on your mind when you’re planning your trip, but unfortunately, it does happen.
Don’t make Mickey ban you.
One Disneyland guest recently found that out the hard way after receiving a one-year band for breaking one of Disney’s rules apparently unawares. We’re sharing what it is he did — along with some other Disney park no-go’s — so that you don’t end up suffering a similar fate.
We’ve talked plenty about things people do that can get them banned from Disney parks along with prohibited items you should never even think about bringing, but the list of ways you can be kicked out of Disney World or Disneyland is seemingly endless. One Disneyland Magic Key Holder found that out the hard way when he was recently banned from the parks for one year.

According to the Orange County Register, Andrew Rich sold a pair of Sweethearts’ Nite After Hours tickets on eBay — and had his Magic Key pass revoked for a year. Rich and his wife were unable to go to the event after coming down with COVID-19, which led Rich to put the tickets up for sale. They were sold “almost immediately.”

But, someone notified Disney that Sweethearts’ Nite tickets were being resold on eBay and the company was able to trace the listing back to Rich. He said that because he was logged into his Magic Key account when purchasing the tickets, his privileges were revoked for one year.
This is because the Disneyland website explicitly states that special event tickets may not be resold or transferred and that Disney reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or revoke any Magic Key pass at any time, for any reason.

Disneyland officials said that Rich sold the tickets for more than their original face value, which is in violation of the terms and conditions. The Disney fan tried to appeal the ban but realized after speaking with the Magic Key Revocation Team that appeals are not accepted.
Rich even wrote letters to Disneyland President Ken Potrock and Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro asking Disney to reconsider, but they declined via their representatives.

So, aside from not reselling After Hours tickets, we thought we’d share some additional things you probably shouldn’t do if you want to avoid being banned from the Disney parks!
There are some obvious things that will get you kicked out and potentially banned — for example, you should NOT try to bring in a prohibited item, which includes things like firearms, megaphones, and folding chairs (check out some other banned items here).
Security
You also cannot go into “backstage” areas, so anywhere that’s marked as “Cast Member Only” is not for guests. (The only time you can do that without breaking the rules is during the Keys to the Kingdom tour in Magic Kingdom!)
Cast Members Only
Disney prohibits guests from “posing as or portraying any character in costume.” Anyone visiting the parks who is 14 years old or older may not wear a costume, unless it’s during one of the specially ticketed events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, where different costume rules apply. The runDisney races also have different costume rules, and this also doesn’t apply to kids 13 and younger.
Mirabel
Disney’s website states that “feeding, petting, touching, harassing or harming any wildlife, including birds, is prohibited.” One key phrase there is “including birds,” so those adorable Disney ducks that come up to your table while you’re eating at Casey’s Corner are off-limits. They don’t want to be pet, and Disney doesn’t want you to pet them either.

Definitely don’t cut in line — Disney’s website states, “Please show common courtesy to fellow Guests and our Cast Members by not using profanity or engaging in unsafe, illegal, disruptive or offensive behavior, jumping lines or saving places in lines for others.”
It probably goes without saying that doing anything that could get you arrested in the Disney parks will also get you banned from the Disney parks!

Right on the Disney World website, it says:
“We reserve the right to deny admission, prevent entry or require a person already admitted to leave the Walt Disney World Resort or any part thereof, without refund, liability or compensation, for failure to comply with any of these rules, for unsafe, illegal or offensive behavior, to ensure safety, security or order, or if we consider that the circumstances otherwise so require, in our sole and absolute discretion.”

Ultimately, if you have to question whether or not something is allowed at Disney parks, maybe you should reconsider doing it! You can always refer to the park website for the official list, or give Disney a call to find out for sure. We’ll also keep you updated on any potential rule changes!

Truly wish that Disney could or would enforce the no saving spaces in line or no butting in line rule. In one day 2 people let 7 of their friends or family members in line in front of me. The next time that same day my daughter was in line and and 3 people standing in line let “9” people in line! Don’t think that this rule really works 🙄
He was surprised he was banned for one year for re-selling sold out tickets for a high demand event at a higher then face value price?
SO very frustrating when two people run ahead and save space in line for ten more people! There are never cast members around when this happens. I stopped a group in Remys one time from moving ahead…I thought the other people around me were going to break into applause. When the man in that group got a little testy, I offered to get a cast member to settle the issue and he shut right up. The man said “ So you aren’t going to let us ride with our family?” And I said “They can absolutely ride with you if they want to come back and join you!” Grrrr….this is my pet peeve at Disney World!
