Planning a Disney World vacation can be downright stressful.

You’ve got to purchase your tickets, book your flights and hotel, and decide where you want to eat — and that’s not even considering that certain experiences or restaurants may be unavailable thanks to refurbishments. That’s why we’re always on the lookout for changes that could impact your Disney World trip, and if you’re heading to the parks soon we’ve got another warning for you!
Heads up if you’re planning a stay at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort soon! Disney has announced a major refurbishment will be taking place on the exterior of the hotel.
Wilderness Lodge
The Disney World website has a warning advising guests of the refurbishment, and as of August 5th, you may see and hear construction work at the Wilderness Lodge “during daytime hours.” Luckily, the construction won’t prevent you from getting a good night’s sleep in your cozy Disney World hotel bed.

Disney hasn’t shared what will be refurbished as part of this project, but we’ll be on the lookout for any potential changes we can spot on our next visit. What’s interesting about this refurbishment is that we recently spotted a permit filed by Disney for work at Wilderness Lodge — though the address listed on the permit matched up with the Copper Creek Villas and Cascade Cabins.
Copper Creek Villas
This may be the permit for the exterior refurbishment project Disney is going to be working on, though the permit itself doesn’t list the details. The description is for “site and facility improvements” with Balfour Beatty listed as the contractor — so it’s possible these site improvements could be to the exterior of some of the buildings after all.
Wilderness Lodge
While Disney hasn’t made any major announcements or shared any details, we are hopeful we could learn more very soon — maybe even at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event coming up this weekend. In the meantime, make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news and more!

Wilderness Losge is the most beautiful and exquisitely themed of all the Disney resorts anywhere in the world. If they turn this into another plain-Jane Marriott makeover, it will be time for all of us to grab our pitch forks and head to Burbank, to personally show Bob Iger the way out as CEO. Nothing against Marriott, BTW.
I love all the updates to all the resorts!! Everything clean and new it makes me want to come back again and again. And makes reset hoping fun again!

As a DVC member, the message from DVC is that some of the Cooper Creek Villas will be getting a refurbishment. We’re staying there in September and it’s posted on the reservation details.
