OK, Disney fans. We’ve got good news and bad news. Which do ya want first?

Disney’s Hollywood Studios
If you want the bad news, you can skip to the end. But before you do, we highly encourage you to hear us out first. Disney just dropped some major news about the future of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and some big areas of the park are going to look different. Here’s what’s changing.
OK, let’s rip off the band-aid. After a lot of speculation, our predictions came true. Back in the summer, Disney announced that a new Monsters, Inc. Land is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At the time, Disney shared two pieces of concept art. Many fans speculated that the first looked a lot like it was located in the Animation Courtyard section of the park, though at the time, Disney did not confirm the location of this addition.

A new land themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Monsters, Inc.” is coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Taking place after the events of the film, Monstropolis need humans’ laughter to power the city. Guests can even ride on a door like Mike and Sully in the iconic scene from the film with Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster.
The second piece of concept art more closely resembled the Grand Avenue section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a.k.a. Muppets Courtyard. It was around this time that people started wondering (or worrying) if the Muppets Courtyard would permanently close.

Well, a few months later, Disney confirmed the news. The Monsters, Inc. Land will take the place of the Muppets Courtyard, closing the restaurants, shops, and attractions in this land.
BREAKING: Muppets Courtyard Is CLOSING in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
The new land will include a suspended coaster that recreates the door vault scene from Monsters, Inc. Disney also teased new dining, shopping, and a whole new theater show.

Wait, did you catch that? There will actually be TWO attractions in Monsters, Inc. Land — we’re getting a new show, too!

Monster’s, Inc.
Will it be an interactive show like the Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor in Magic Kingdom? A 3-D show like MuppetVision 3D? A stage show like the Beauty and the Beast show? We have so many questions!
NEWS: Disney Just Confirmed a NEW Show Is Coming to Monsters, Inc. Land in Hollywood Studios
Naturally, a lot of people were pretty upset about the fate of MuppetVision 3D. Perhaps to try and make up for the closure, Disney also announced that the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is getting rethemed. The Muppets are coming to Sunset Boulevard!

According to Disney, The Muppets will be taking over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, “teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!” Does that mean The Muppets are rocking along with some current artists? Is this a hint about the new soundtrack? WE MUST KNOW!
NEWS: Disney Confirms Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster RETHEME in Hollywood Studios
This brings us to the bad news. Sure, it’s fun to think about the new suspended roller coaster, a new restaurant, and more Muppets merchandise around the park. But Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a relatively small park (compared to the others), and with two BIG areas of the park under construction, we’re expecting this park to feel a little more crowded and tight.

The wait times might increase, too, since Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be closed for a major retheme. TL;DR? Get ready for Construction Wall City.
