Walt Disney Imagineering just filed four new Notices of Commencement permits for Hollywood Studios. An NOC is a legal document where anyone starting construction, repairs, or improvements of a high budget has to tell their state government that they’re starting the project. Hollywood Studios is going to get a lot of upgrades this year!
Hollywood Studios is expanding with three new areas – Monsters, Inc land is taking over the former Muppets Courtyard, the Muppets are moving into Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and the reimagined Animation Courtyard will open as Walt Disney Studios this summer. Get ready to feel some Sweet Emotion, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster fans. The iconic coaster is changing in a BIG way. Say goodbye to Aerosmith; Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the gang will be moving right along to Sunset Boulevard to take over the roller coaster! So, what’s with all the changes? Well, Disney announced that a new Monsters, Inc. themed land is coming to Hollywood Studios, and it’s taking the place of the Muppets Courtyard on Grand Avenue. This has led to some serious theme park rearranging, including changes at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.
So far, Disney has been pretty quiet about the changes planned for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, but a new permit indicates the first official changes are on the way. Disney just filed a permit to repaint the guitar at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Hellloooo, Hollywood! We love the glitz and glamor of Hollywood. You’ve got gorgeous hotels, some great rock ‘n’ roll shows, and a stunning theater. But speaking of rock ‘n’ roll shows, who wants some backstage passes?

Now, we’ve been itching to catch an Aerosmith concert at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for MONTHS. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has been closed since January, and we recently learned that the ride would be opening on July 1st. But thanks to a DFB tip on Instagram, we decided to visit Hollywood Studios EARLY to see what’s rockin’ at Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Boy, were we in for a GOOD surprise!
