The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Red Flag warning for much of Central Florida, including Osceola and Orange counties — where Disney World is located.
The Red Flag warning will be in effect from 11 AM to 6 PM on Thursday, March 6th, 2025.
Red Flag Warnings are issued when wind conditions are highly unfavorable for prescribed burns that may lead to wildfire growth. The National Weather Service has issued this warning for much of Central Florida, including Volusia, Lake, Seminole, Orange, Osceola, Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, Okeechobee, and Martin counties.
West/northwest winds with speeds near 20 miles per hour have been reported with gusts around 30 miles per hour. The humidity is dropping to 25-35%, which increases the potential spread of fires. Additionally, fires could ignite easily and spread quickly.
The National Weather Service advises avoiding open flames and sparks, keeping your vehicles off of dry grass, and properly discarding cigarettes.
If you are at Disney World during the Red Flag Warning, you likely won’t experience anything out of the ordinary, but there may be increased fire patrols around the resort, along with potential smoke if any fires form in the area. There will likely be restrictions on outdoor burning including at Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground as well.
Stay updated with local weather alerts for the most updated information, in case of any potential fires in the area.
In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more updates from Disney World that could impact your next trip. Make sure you stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for the latest Disney news.
