April is quickly approaching, and that means your next trip to Disney World could be too!
April can be a tricky time in Disney World for a number of reasons, but that’s no reason to panic about your upcoming trip! We here at DFB are experts and we have people in the parks every single day so you’re not caught off guard. If you’re heading to Disney World in April, these are the mistakes you may be inclined to make, but we’re here to warn you NOW so that won’t happen!
Don’t Underestimate Spring Break Crowds
April is when a lot of spring breaks fall for schools all around the country, and that means it’s important for you to expect them. Now, we’re not telling you to NOT go to Disney World during this time of year, because we understand that spring break is the only time many families can go, but you need to adjust your expectations before you step into the park.
It’s going to be crowded. That’s very much a given, and it’s better if you go into your park days expecting to see higher wait times and larger crowds and then are pleasantly surprised, rather than the opposite. If you’re planning on buying Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Single Pass, you’ll also want to make sure you’re on top of making those reservations as soon as you can, because they’ll sell out quick!
Believe The Heat!
April is a strange time because it’s not too hot, but summer is on the way, so temperatures are heating up around in Disney World. When you’re traveling to the parks during this month, you’ll want to be sure you dress for warmer weather but also be sure you have a light cardigan or jacket with you, because inside restaurants or attractions can be chilly with that AC blasting!
Even more importantly: wear that sunscreen! Even if it doesn’t feel too hot or it’s cloudy, slather that sunscreen on and make sure you’re protected against the sun. The last thing you want is to get a sunburn and be uncomfortable for the rest of your trip. Trust us, we’ve been there, done that, and we don’t recommend.
Don’t Forget That Certain Rides Are Closed
April also means that certain rides are closed in Disney World, and it’s important you know about them ahead of time so you’re not caught off guard and disappointed that you can’t ride something! In April, you won’t be able to experience Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or Astro Orbiter in Magic Kingdom, TriceraTop Spin has officially been demolished in Animal Kingdom as part of the massive retheme to Pueblo Esperanza, and It’s Tough to Be A Bug is no more as well.
However, it’s also important to remember that your Magic Kingdom and EPCOT rope drop strategies have likely changed, as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind both no longer have Virtual Queues. Both now have regular standby queues, or you can purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass for Cosmic Rewind, and Tiana’s is included with Multi Pass (but it does book up fast!)
Traveling to Disney World can be immensely stressful, yet exciting at the same time. We know there’s a lot to plan and figure out, but we’ll be here to make sure you’re as prepared as possible, so stay tuned to DFB!
