We’ve been to Epic Universe multiple times now, which means we feel like we have a good idea of everything you can see, do, eat, and drink in Universal Orlando’s newest theme park.
We’ve been on out-of-this-world adventures in Celestial Park, pet dragons in How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk, conversed with monsters in Dark Universe, earned coins in Super Nintendo World, and witnessed the high profile trial of Dolores Umbridge in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic. However, in all five lands, there is one super BIG problem, but it seems like Universal is trying to solve it.
So the biggest complaint about Epic Universe is that it lacks shade. Now, granted, there are places you can duck into with shade and seating, but for the most part, when you’re walking around the five lands of Epic Universe, there are very few shaded areas to get you out of the hot Florida sun. There are a few trees here and there, but it’s not enough to really provide any kind of comfort. It’s like being out in the desert, and you’ll need to pack survival gear like sunscreen (which you’ll want to reapply regularly), a hat, and a personal fan.
However, it seems like Universal Orlando has caught on that this is a big problem. According to @bioreconstruct, some “Cool Zones” have started popping up in Epic Universe. These cooling stations give you a chance to stand or sit near large fans with chilled air. You can currently find them in Celestial Park near the Cosmos Fountain, near the Stardust Racers bathrooms, and the outdoor seating of some restaurants that haven’t opened yet.
So if you’re visiting Epic Universe, keep an eye out for the Cool Zone signs if you need to cool off. Thank goodness Epic Universe is LISTENING to fans — these are a much-needed addition.
