Universal’s Epic Universe has only been open to the general public since May of 2025; however, a recently filed permit is adding more fuel to speculation that the park may be expanding sooner rather than later.
The permit, filed on November 7th, 2025, is for site utilities and foundation work for new construction, identified as a 150,000 square foot building. The address listed on the permit is 1001 Epic Blvd, Orlando, Florida 32819, which is the new park, with Baker Barrios Architects Inc. listed as the applicant.
While there’s no official word on what type of project this permit is for, the large size of the associated building indicates to many that it’s something beyond typical back-of-house work and will likely be something guest-facing.
Rumors about potential additions to Epic Universe have been flowing since before the multi-billion-dollar park even opened. Eagle-eyed observers have noted several potential expansion pads in the park, in particular one between Super Nintendo World and Dark Universe.
Speculation on what could potentially be added to the park has included everything from a Luigi’s Mansion ride/dining hybrid experience expansion to the Super Mario portion of the Nintendo area, a Creature from the Black Lagoon boat ride in Dark Universe, an additional attraction in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and even dreams of additional full portals based on everything from the Lord of the Rings to a “greatest hits” of former Universal attractions like Jaws and Back to the Future the Ride.
While it seems HIGHLY unlikely that Universal is about to announce something quite as massive as a new portal or E-Ticket level attraction, this new permit makes it clear that something new is already coming to Epic Universe. Stay tuned to DFB for further updates.
