When we think about Disney World food, one of the first places our minds immediately go to is EPCOT. The food at EPCOT is so fun, flavorful, and unique, especially for a theme park. Of course, there are the EPCOT festivals, which showcase tons of great multicultural dishes, but there are also great restaurants all around the park. Ugh, our mouths are watering just thinking about it.
Knowing how great the food at EPCOT can be makes us that much more disappointed when we realize that a restaurant is going downhill. We’re starting to notice one restaurant slowly deteriorating in the park known for its food, and that worries us, because this place used to be known for its unique fare.
So, what is the restaurant that we’re seeing slowly deteriorate? That would be Connections Eatery. This quick-service restaurant is attached to Connections Café (a.k.a. Starbucks) in World Celebration, and we used to love the unique list of menu items.
It once had a French Bistro Burger, a Southwestern Burger, a Banh Mi Burger, and a Mediterranean Burger when it first opened. Now the menu has…a classic American burger only. BORING.
It used to have a meatball pizza and a curry-spiced pizza. Then, for a while, it had a margherita pizza. Now…it’s cheese and pepperoni only. It’s SO sad.
Even the kids’ menu used to have a more unique option with the grilled chicken bao, but now that’s gone, too.
Oddly enough, the salads are where things have remained somewhat unique. It still has the General Tso Chicken Salad and Peruvian salad. Plus, the liege waffle is still there, along with the slightly more unique mango-coconut milkshake (and some other fun shake options). And, sure, we know it gets seasonal items in occasionally, too, but overall, it just seems like the uniqueness of the menu is slowly being stripped away.
We do still love that this is a spot where you can sit down and enjoy a bit of air conditioning, and it’s not that the food is BAD, it’s just slowly becoming another typical quick-service spot that lacks luster. And that makes us a bit sad and worried that we’re losing something that was once non-traditional, special, and one-of-a-kind — our favorite kind of restaurant.
Hopefully, Disney can save this restaurant before it loses all its excitement and pizzazz. In the meantime, we’ll continue to enjoy the few unique items it does offer (and the A/C)!

I am very disappointed that the bistro burger has been removed as it was a favourite of mine. So won’t be eating there anymore.
