If DINOSAUR is one of those rides you automatically squeeze in every Animal Kingdom day, you’re going to want to read this now.
We know how easy it is to miss big closure news when you’re focused on planning dining, park days, and where you’re staying. Disney has officially confirmed the permanent closing date for DINOSAUR, and there is now a very real last day to ride. If this attraction is on your must-do list, or if you just love screaming at dinos in the dark, here’s exactly what you need to know.
When DINOSAUR Is Permanently Closing
Disney has confirmed that DINOSAUR will permanently close on February 2nd, 2026. That means the very last day to ride will be February 1st, 2026.
So yes, there is still time. You don’t need to panic if your next trip is soon, but you do want to keep this date in the back of your mind if you’re planning a 2026 vacation. Once February 2nd hits, that Time Rover is officially parked for good.
Disney shared that while DINOSAUR closes in 2026, the legacy and asteroid impact of the Dino Institute will live forever in our hearts. Honestly, that feels like the only appropriate way to say goodbye to this ride.
What’s Already Closed in DinoLand U.S.A.
If you’ve walked through DinoLand recently and thought it felt oddly empty, you’re not wrong. A huge chunk of the land has already permanently closed.
At the time of this writing, TriceraTop Spin, the Fossil Fun Games, Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, The Boneyard, Trilo Bites, and Dino Bite Snacks are all already gone for good. At this point, DINOSAUR and Restaurantosaurus are the final major pieces still standing.
Restaurantosaurus will also permanently close on February 2nd, 2026, which means February 1st will be your last chance to eat there. If that spot is part of your Animal Kingdom routine, or if you just love its chaotic cafeteria vibes, it might be worth one last meal.
Why DINOSAUR Is Closing in the First Place
This closure is happening because DinoLand U.S.A. is being completely transformed into the Tropical Americas, also known as Pueblo Esperanza.
The new area will include a large hacienda that will be one of the biggest quick service restaurants at Walt Disney World. It will also feature two major attractions themed to Indiana Jones and Encanto.
Construction is already underway, and Disney has confirmed that Tropical Americas is expected to open in 2027.
Should You Make Time for DINOSAUR Before It Closes?
If you haven’t ridden DINOSAUR in a while, or if you’ve never ridden it at all, we really think this is one you should prioritize before it’s gone. It is loud, intense, chaotic, and slightly unhinged, which is exactly why it’s got such a loyal fan base.
The good news is that you still have plenty of time, and riding DINOSAUR doesn’t require any complicated planning, unless you don’t have a trip planned during this timeline, of course. If you do have a trip planned or if you’re an AP, just make sure it’s on your list before February 1st, 2026.
We’ll continue to keep you posted on all the latest Animal Kingdom construction and closure updates, so keep it right here at the Disney Food Blog and stay in the know!
