There is a lot of construction happening in Disney World right now. Magic Kingdom is getting an expansion, a new land, and two updated rides. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is getting a new land and an updated area. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is getting a new land.
There’s a lot of construction happening at Disney World hotels, too, including lobby updates and room overhauls. When construction needs to happen, Disney must first file a permit for that work, which gives us an idea of what the company will work on next. We’ve recently seen two new permits filed for construction at hotels, while a third permit has been filed for a popular Magic Kingdom store.
Let’s take a closer look at these three permits:
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside
The first permit is for work at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — Riverside. Now, we’re already aware that the hotel is currently undergoing a lot of work throughout its property, and that this work is expected to continue through August 2027. The permit is for “Mechanical,” which generally means things like heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
So, from what we can surmise from the permit, Riverside will be getting an updated heating, ventilation, and A/C system. The contractor is W.W. Gay, a company that does work with everything from plumbing to HVAC, and more.
Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Villas
The second permit is for Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and Villas and is for “general construction,” which could mean just about anything. Disney World began working on refurbishments throughout the resort in November, and the work is expected to continue throughout 2026.
This new permit is probably for a continuation of that work. The contractor is DPR Construction, which specializes in hospitality projects, aka working on hotels.
Sir Mickey’s
Now, let’s talk about the work in Magic Kingdom. Sir Mickey’s is a popular store in Magic Kingdom, which sits just behind Cinderella Castle. A new permit was filed to install a “knee,” which is a 6-foot-high interior wall inside the store.
The contractor for the work is JCQ Services, which built the new DVC cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.
We’ll be keeping an eye out for more permits and signs of construction in Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB to stay updated.
