Things are getting really exciting over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s only a matter of months until Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will reopen as Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring The Muppets. Animation Courtyard is getting a glow-up to become The Walt Disney Studios (which we LOVE because it’s a throwback to the Hollywood Studios we grew up with).
Of course, we have to mention the new Monsters, Inc. land that’s coming to the park, too, which we might be the MOST excited about (y’all, we finally get a ride based on the doors scene!!!). Well, we’ve been keeping a close eye on the construction of that land, and we have a huge update to share with you.
We recently visited the construction site of the new Monsters, Inc. land, which is located where the Muppets Courtyard used to be.
We got a good look at one building, which will be The Glob Theatre, where we believe a new Monsters, Inc. show will be performed. Right now, Disney has stripped away the signs and marquee from the previous Muppet*Vision 3D building. According to the concept art for the new land, a new marquee and signage will go in those spaces.
Here’s a closer look at what the theatre will look like in the new land:
The new land won’t just have an updated theater, though. A new ride is also coming to Hollywood Studios, a suspended roller coaster (a first for Disney!) that will be based on the doors scene in the first Monsters, Inc. film. We’ve seen some progress being made on that ride and show building through aerial photos by @bioreconstruct.
Construction seems to be moving at a pretty quick pace, so we’ll have to keep checking for updates to see how things are moving along. Disney has not yet released an opening timeline for the new land, but we’re hoping it’s sooner, rather than later.
We’ll keep an eye out for more updates on the Monsters, Inc. land, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
