With crowds at the airports, heavy traffic on the roads, and unpredictable weather conditions, there are a lot of things to consider before packing up and heading out this time of year. For some people, traveling is the only way that they can see their families during the holidays, and that holly jolly vacation may have just turned into a transportation nightmare.

With Christmas being just days away, holiday travel is reaching peak levels. There have been lots of flight delays and cancelations, and experts have predicted record-breaking crowds. Now, President Biden has issued a warning for those traveling over the holidays.
With things getting back to normal after the pandemic, we’ve seen a HUGE increase in travel within this year.

Airports crowds have picked back up in 2022, and we’ve seen some airports struggle to deal with the demand due to staffing shortages. Because of this, there were thousands of flight cancelations this summer. But how has that affected customer satisfaction at airports around the country? Well, the numbers are in, and some airports are ranked much higher than others.

Flying right now can be stressful
There have been thousands of delays and cancelations around the U.S., caused partially due to staffing issues. Some airlines have even canceled routes altogether, or are even canceling flights months in advance to try and curb last-minute cancelations. So, which airports have had the most issues? Travel has certainly rebounded recently as many people rush to go on vacations that were previously put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve seen bigger crowds in Disney World, and Disney CEO Bob Chapek confirmed that attendance is up at Disney Parks. But with surges in travel come other problems — most notably, airlines have been having trouble keeping up with demand.

Many airlines laid off staff during the pandemic when demand for travel was very low. Now that the demand is back in full force, airlines are struggling to bring back enough staff to accommodate all the passengers who want to fly. As a result, we’ve seen many flight cancelations, problems with lost or mishandled baggage, and other issues at airports. Not only have staffing shortages caused airlines to reduce their schedules already, but mass delays and cancelations have also been occurring pretty much daily. The U.S. Department of Transportation had proposed new rules calling for airlines to provide cash refunds to stranded passengers, and now it looks like we’ve got an update on that proposal.
