After you’ve been to Disney World a few times, there are a few vacation “rules” you start to follow. Some are practical (rope drop is essential), some are culinary (DOLE Whip is non-negotiable), and some are technological (shoutout to Disney tech like MagicBands for making our lives easier). But what if we told you that some of the most common MagicBand “rules” are actually costing you money and convenience?

As Disney World’s technology has evolved, so should our approach to wearable devices. Whether you’re planning your first visit or your fifteenth trip, here are three MagicBand rules that savvy Disney experts know to break.

A BIG celebration is coming to Disneyland soon.
Disneyland will be celebrating its 70th Anniversary this year, and the resort is planning on throwing a BIG party. This means the return of a popular nighttime parade, as well as special merchandise, new outfits for characters, new entertainment, and SO MUCH MORE. However, if you wear a MagicBand+ to Disneyland during the celebration, you might discover it’s a little EXTRA.

We can’t believe we’re saying this, but A Goofy Movie is celebrating its 30th anniversary! How could it possibly be that long since we were first introduced to Powerline?

To MagicBand or not to MagicBand, that is the question.
While MagicBands are not required to enter Disney World, they might make your trip a little easier, but before you rush out to grab one, make sure you know these three rules!
As much as I want to be calm, cool, and collected…I’m not. One day, I’m bouncing around all day in Disney World, jumping from place to place to cram in as much as possible. The next, I’m taking it slow and spending the whole day getting snacks and riding the PeopleMover. I’m getting out of line at the bus stop when I get impatient. I’m searching around for dining reservations on the My Disney Experience app constantly. To sum it up? Things can get a little chaotic inside my mind. It keeps things interesting, right?

Magic Kingdom
I hope I’m not alone here, but I have a confession: my chaotic brain has approved some risky decisions in Disney World. I may not be breaking any rules, but I have done some chaotic things with MagicBands in Disney World, and it’s time to tell my story. For all you Disney fans out there who are constantly running late to your next reservation, can’t keep track of the park hours to save your life, and go HARD on vacation, this one’s for YOU.
