Disney and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have been battling it out in the courts through various lawsuits for a while now, but it seems as though the war is over.

The DeSantis-appointed Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board’s state lawsuit against Disney came shortly after the House of Mouse filed a federal lawsuit against the Board and DeSantis with Disney filing a countersuit in August 2023. But, the two parties have now entered into a settlement agreement for the state-level cases. So, what does that mean for the federal suit?

The battle between Disney and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) has come to an end — well, part of it anyway.

While we’re still waiting on a ruling in appeal Disney filed in the federal case, the state case filed by the CFTOD has continued on without much drama. The CFTOD lawsuit came shortly after Disney filed a lawsuit against the Board and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis with the board officially filing its own suit in May 2023 and Disney filing a countersuit in August. But now, it looks like the CFTOD and Disney have officially reached a settlement.

NEWS: DeSantis-appointed Board Chairman Suddenly Parts Ways with Disney District

The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) has been experiencing quite a staff shakeup lately.

Once the Reedy Creek Improvement District, the CFTOD was taken over by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who quickly appointed his own members to the board. Since then, we’ve seen a mass employee exodus in the district and more recently, some changes to those DeSantis-appointed board members. Now, yet another CFTOD board member is out.

When Florida Governor Ron DeSantis turned Disney World’s Reedy Creek Improvement District into the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, he appointed a new board of directors to oversee the land.

Since then, we’ve seen the board make some major decisions regarding the land where Disney World resides. There have been a few board member changes since the beginning, but now, the board will be getting a brand-new administrator.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis visited the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD) to tout the district’s accomplishments in the midst of multiple lawsuits with Disney.

The CFTOD lawsuit followed Disney’s suit against the Board and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The Board officially filed its own suit in May 2023 and Disney filed a countersuit in August. It was later revealed that the DeSantis-appointed district had not searched for documents requested in the lawsuit, and the governor held a press conference in an attempt to save face.

BREAKING: Judge Dismisses Disney’s Federal Lawsuit Against Gov. DeSantis

The drama between the Walt Disney Company and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis continues.

The feud goes back to when Disney made statements against Florida’s Rights in Education law (called the “Don’t Say Gay” bill by critics). After that, DeSantis and Florida legislators dissolved Disney’s Reedy Creek Improvement District and replaced it with a new board that has made some controversial changes to the District since its installment. Disney fought back by filing a lawsuit in federal court, claiming that DeSantis’s motives were retaliatory against the company. Well, a federal judge has dismissed that lawsuit.
