It’s one of our favorite times of the year at Walt Disney World (we ARE a food blog, after all), and we’ll be sharing all the Food & Wine updates from now until the opening day…and beyond! We’ve been tackling this festival for YEARS, so we pretty much consider ourselves experts, and we have some tips that you’re definitely going to need to know if you plan on visiting this year.
That means it’s time to get prepared! When we hit the festival, there are certain things we ALWAYS bring along — and so we thought we’d share our must-bring festival list with you!
Disney’s been celebrating Earth Day in some very special ways!
We’ve taken a peek at the company’s progress towards its hefty environmental goals — and of course, we’ve been eating ALL the Earth Day treats. And remember that massive collection of reusable kitchenware? Well, in honor of this special day, the collection has now dropped online!
We’ve seen a few examples of Disney’s mission to become more eco-friendly poppin’ up in the parks, from cool new trash cans to compostable plastic cheese (!!) containers. Of course, with Disney’s sustainability goals, the efforts to go green extend far beyond Earth Month and Animal Kingdom. We’ve recently spotted Compostable Cups for our beloved Plastic Cheese (!!!), for instance, as just one example. And today in both Animal Kingdom AND Magic Kingdom, we’ve happened upon new merchandise lines featuring all sorts of reusable goodies that you can use in the parks AND take home from your trip to continue in your own efforts to go green… Disney-style! If you haven’t noticed, Disney has taken quite a few steps to make its parks more environmentally friendly. In 2018, Disney announced it would ban single-use plastic straws at its parks.
We also recently noticed some changes at Disney World: our beloved plastic cheese (okay, it’s not REALLY plastic, but that’s what we call it) in pre-packaged plastic cups was being phased out in favor of cardboard cups of plastic cheese at select locations. And we’ve even spotted special trash cans in the parks for compost waste!
