Disney has scrapped its plans for a bundled sports streaming service.

On Friday, Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery announced that they are scrapping their plans for a bundled sports streamer, citing a need to “meet the evolving demands of sports fans by focusing on existing products and distribution channels.” The now-canceled service was initially planned to show all their game telecasts and studio programs.
It seems like the new trend in streaming is bundling.

We’ve recently learned more about a Disney+, Hulu, and Max bundle that’s available. We’ve also been waiting to get more details about the sports streaming bundle Disney announced earlier this year. The bundle brings together sports content from Fox, ESPN, and Warner Bros. Discovery on one streaming app. Disney has unveiled some information about this new sports streaming service, but now, we know how much it will cost.

First, the company has teamed up with Warner Bros. Discovery to bring ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery sports coverage into one streaming service. And although Disney+ seems to have lost some subscribers, its average monthly revenue per paid subscriber increased by 9% domestically. Overall, the company seems to be very confident about one of its major goals (and CEO Bob Iger’s #1 priority): to have streaming become profitable in 2024 (yep, this year).
