It’s almost here!! Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes is coming “very soon” to Disneyland Resort, according to Disney!
Originally slated to open in 2018, we can now officially get ready to welcome the New York City home of CrazyShakes and award-winning burgers to the Downtown Disney District! While we do not have an exact opening date, Disney has also revealed some unique aspects of what will be the restaurant’s first location in California.
The Downtown Disney District location will be the first to offer Black Tap Craft’s enhanced counter service style. How will it work? Place your order at the counter, then head to your seat. From that point, a Black Tap team member will take any of other menu, drink and CrazyShake orders you may want to place.
Additionally, the Downtown Disney District location will be the first where CrazyShakes can be ordered to go from a take-out Shake Window.
Owner Chris Barish shared that the Downtown Disney District is “the perfect spot for us and we can’t wait to open and welcome new and long-time fans of Black Tap. Downtown Disney guests can expect a fun and over-the-top experience. At Black Tap, we bring together great ‘80s pop and ’90s hip hop music, cool and engaging design, energetic team members, and of course, amazing burgers and famous CrazyShakes, to create a one-of-a-kind experience.”
He also shared that guests can look forward to watching their CrazyShakes being created during a “shake show,” and that the spot will offer exclusive CrazyShakes.
Regarding the design, he shared: “Black Tap‘s design is a modern twist on a classic luncheonette. We have custom street art and neon signage, while incorporating a prominent black and white palette. When designing the restaurants, we always try to pull elements in that are familiar, but use them in new and creative ways. For example, the stacked subway tile, the vertical black brick and our angled black and white and stripes are very New York.”
We can’t wait to keep you posted on an official opening date (and we can’t wait to drink our first CrazyShake, either… how about you?)!

Black Tap and Ballast Point are pretty much the same, aren’t they? And they are right next to each other in Downtown Disney. I don’t get it.
I have been patiently waiting for Black Tap. I have visited the DLR twice in the last 6 months hoping they would be open. Hopefully by my next trip they will be and I can get a crazy shake!
