And today, runDisney has given us a much closer look at the medals for each particular race! Let’s explore them together.
Characters like Pluto, Oswald, Goofy, Mickey, and Minnie will be the hosts of the races for the weekend. Each race’s medal reflects its designated theme and host.
Marathon Finisher Medal
The Marathon Finisher Medal features none other than our favorite couple — Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. This double-sided medal is gold and depicts Mickey on one side and Minnie on the other. Tbh, we’re kinda considering training for this marathon ONLY to get this adorable medal.
Half Marathon Finisher Medal
Donald Duck is the host for Half Marathon, so he is front-and-center on the Half Marathon Finisher Medal! This medal looks a bit more bronze in tone and is accented with pops of blue. Donald certainly looks determined, doesn’t he?
10K Finisher Medal
If you’re participating in the 10K race, your Finisher Medal will feature Oswald the Lucky Rabbit! This black medal looks nice and sleek with its bright blue and yellow accents.
5K Finisher Medal
Pluto is featured in all his bright yellow glory on the 5K Finisher Medal! This medal is silver (in a unique hexagon shape) with black and yellow accents.
Goofy’s Race and a Half Finisher Medal
If you’re realllly intense, you can participate in Goofy’s Race and a Half and earn this snazzy medal! For this race, finishers have to complete both the Half Marathon AND Marathon for a grand total of 39.3 miles of running over the course of two days. If you successfully complete this challenge, you’ll get this silver medal, decked out with gold stars and blue, red, and black accents. You’ll also get the medals for the two races you completed!
Dopey Challenge Finisher Medal
If you’re really, realllly intense, you can win a grand total of SIX medals for completing the Dopey Challenge! If you complete all four Marathon Weekend races (48.6 miles in four days), you’ll win all four race medals, plus Goofy’s Race and a Half medal, AND the Dopey Challenge Finisher Medal!
This gold medal features the adorable dwarf in addition to the mileage amount of all four races completed.
If you want to participate in the 2020 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, we’d suggest registering sooner rather than later! While some events may already be sold out, there are still spots available in others.
