Today we’ve been discussing reopening procedures which will be implemented at Shanghai Disneyland as the Resort prepares for its May 11th reopening. And even though all other Disney Parks around the world remain closed until further notice, we are looking at new safety measures in Shanghai Disneyland as possible indicators for how the rest of the parks may follow suit.
We’ve talked about park capacity limits and health screening protocols for guests. We’ve also explored what the Disney character experience will be like and how parades and nighttime spectaculars will be impacted — at least during the initial reopening phase of Disneyland Shanghai.
These procedures are outlined in a press release which accompanied the reopening announcement for Shanghai Disneyland. And one more item addressed in the release is the availability of park experiences like attractions and shows.
Disneyland Shanghai shares that starting on May 11th — reopening day — the “majority of Shanghai Disneyland’s attractions, rides, some shows and shopping and dining locations will resume operations,” albeit with controlled attendance to promote physical distancing.
Certain “interactive attractions and experiences” — which, according to the release include play areas and theater shows — will remain closed.
Of course, since guests will certainly want to find out what will be open, they will be able to check the availability of specific attractions and entertainment on the Shanghai Disneyland website and app. (As a reminder, parades and nighttime spectaculars in particular will not return until “a later date.”)
These and other procedures fall under the safety measures which the Disney company is considering as they also look towards reopening of the other Parks. The areas of consideration include phased reopening, capacity measures and physical distancing, sanitation, screening and prevention support, and Cast training.
Disney will provide more specifics as each Resort approaches reopening, but we can look towards — and LOOK FORWARD to! — the reopening of Disneyland Shanghai to see what might be in store for Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Disney destinations beyond.
