Businesses across the country have begun to reopen and we have been keeping you updated with how local task forces are working to balance supporting the economy while keeping citizens safe.
Universal Orlando’s CityWalk reopened today with new procedures, and Disney Springs plans to reopen next week. Today, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) released a new set of guidelines to help businesses decide whether they are ready to proceed with reopening or not.
After weeks of deliberation, the disease experts from the CDC released a new set of guidelines to help states safely reopen businesses and schools following the global pandemic.
According to Good Morning America, the guidelines are voluntary for states to follow, but provide specific recommendations — termed “decision tools” — to help determine whether businesses or schools are ready to advance to the next stage of opening.
The guidelines include subcategories for Community Locations and Events, Education and Child Care, Shared Housing and Institutions, and Public Services and Infrastructure. Communities are advised to follow “personal protective measures, social distancing, and environmental surface cleaning” and you can read the full “Community Mitigation Strategies” here.
These recommendations come as an update to the previous guidance that suggested reopening should follow a two week documentation of fewer case.
This document was released after a task force official stated last month that “overly specific instructions for how various types of businesses open up would be overly prescriptive and broad for the various circumstances States are experiencing throughout the country.” The new guidelines are voluntary and are designed to help businesses like restaurants as well as community members decide how to proceed.
