It’s been a busy news day for Disney World!
While Disney Vacation Club (DVC) properties at Walt Disney World and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground are scheduled to reopen on June 22nd, Disney has not yet announced when the other hotels on property will reopen.
And based on experience from our team, it appears that Disney has started to send emails to guests with resort reservations starting between June 22nd and July 4th requesting that they modify, confirm, or cancel their upcoming reservations.
This is likely so that Disney can get an accurate count of guests they will be expecting, and so that guests who have reservations at resort hotels that won’t be opening within this timeframe can cancel or modify their hotel bookings.
A member of our team currently has a reservation for Disney’s Contemporary Resort with a check-in date of July 1st. The subject line of the email indicates that action is required.
The message then informs us that there will be a number of operational changes in place, and asks the reader to review these changes and then confirm, modify, or cancel the reservation.
The email also states that if the guest holds a reservation at a hotel that will not be open, Disney is able to help modify the reservation.
At the end of the email, there is a blue button that guests can click to review and confirm their reservation. It indicates that action is requested by June 12th.
Upon clicking the review and confirm button, we were taken to a page that provided us with the option to confirm, modify, or cancel the reservation.
When we selected the option to confirm the reservation, we received the following message.
When we selected the option to modify the reservation, we received a message that it could not be modified online, and we would need to call Disney.
As our team member holds a reservation at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, which is not among the first group of hotels to reopen, we will continue to provide updates about our experience with the modified reservation!
Note that we also have a team member with a reservation at Bay Lake Tower, a DVC Resort that will be reopening on June 22nd, beginning July 1st. This team member also received an email, so it seems Disney is contacting ALL guests with reservations within this timeframe regardless of whether their hotel will be open or not.

My email was a little different. Mine did not have a blue button, it simply said in bold letters “Contact you Travel Professional to learn more about your reservation options and next steps.
Response requested by June 12, 2020”

We’ve been keeping our eye on your Video news cast. Thanks so much AJ for keeping it fun.
We bought Park Hopper Plus tickets for Mid-September. With the new park reservation requirements, is the park hopper still an option? And will we get a refund for the difference to regular tickets?

We have reservations for 6/23 @ Beach Club DVC and 7/3 @ Bay Lake Tower and received the same messages for both. I can’t wait and don’t care that things will be limited. I just wait to be in the Disney World bubble. At least there are several hotels in the vicinity of both resorts for places to visit. Disney Springs is great but not like a resort.

Picc2, just a note in case it got lost in the information waterfall: Disney has said to visit Resorts, you’ll need an ADR. (No word on whether you’ll be able to connect via Disney Springs to Resort hop, though…)

I have a reservation starting on June 24 for a full package and haven’t received any email from Disney, can’t do any modifications online, and refuse to pay an international phone call just to be put on hold for who knows how long.
They’ve handled this whole thing very badly. I originally had reservations in May but didn’t hear anything from them at all, and ended up cancelling them and rebooking in September and again never heard a single word at all from Disney. Literally, they never emailed me a single time except the automated thing telling me my payment was due. I had to get all my news about what was happening from outside sources like here.
Not a great way to run a business 🙁

My stay was at the Yacht Club for 6/26-7/4 and I went through the email survey and then was prompted to call Disney since I wanted to change my reservation. This was good because I quickly learned that they would have cancelled my reservation anyway because they are only allowing guests to stay at DVC rooms. They will try and accommodate your price point and dates at a DVC only. This includes any time into the future. I tried to rebook all the way out into October and they can only look at DVC rooms. To be clear, a DVC resort only includes the DVC rooms and not the other rooms within the resort that are not DVC. So your options are really limited and we found we were getting less for our money and these DVC club rooms are away from the main action of the resorts. Also, the cast member indicated that our rescheduling for any future dates would not guarantee us park admission on the reservation service. So keep that in mind.

I have a reservation for 7/26-30 and I haven’t gotten an email. I called and it was a very short conversation. “We do not have any information on that”
Lol… two of the 4 nights we have are compt due to an error they made with our reservation in January. So I hope that doesn’t put us on the bottom of the reservation food chain lol. But I’m definitely willing to upgrade if it’s an option. It may be the only chance we have to go for a long time.

Hmmmm. No email for us yet. We’re booked at GFV for 6/27 – 7/2.
