It’s been over six months since Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure closed due to the global health crisis.
But fortunately, those who on the West Coast who need to get a lil’ Disney fix (uh, us!) can head to Downtown Disney, the resort’s shopping and dining district.
And that’s exactly what we did this week to check out all the new construction, merch, and store updates! Come along with us as we see everything going on!
Downtown Disney Construction Update
Walkway
California governor Gavin Newsom said in a recent news conference that there will be an update on the state’s theme parks “soon,” and it seems as though Disneyland is prepping for guests to come back!
We spotted benches and safety signage along the roadway that is typically used to transport guests from the Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals Parking Structures to Downtown Disney, which may indicate that this roadway will instead be used as a pedestrian walkway when Disneyland reopens, though nothing has been confirmed about this by Disney.
We also spotted some signage saying that a reservation was required for park entry, presumably in a system similar to Walt Disney World’s Park Pass system.
It sure does seem like Disneyland is getting ready to reopen! However, no timeline for a reopening has been given, and reservations through October 3rd have been canceled.

Disney California Adventure
Peeking through the gates at Disney California Adventure, we spotted some social distancing markers outside Los Feliz Five & Dime.
The sign says “Enter Here,” indicating that there will be a one-way-in, one-way-out crowd flow, like we’ve seen at stores all over Walt Disney World.
Disneyland Park
In previous strolls around Disneyland, we noticed that there was scaffolding surrounding the Emporium on Main Street. This week, we saw that the scaffolding is starting to come down!
It’s now just around the bottom half of the building!
Promenade
The ticket booths in the promenade are coming to life again! We spotted that some of the screens were turned on, sitting on a static screen that says “Disneyland.”
Other screens are still off, including the screens that normally feature the pricing information.
Seeing this made us feel TOTALLY warm and fuzzy inside, just thinking about getting tickets to go to the theme parks!
