We’ve learned LOTS of fun stuff about Disney World’s 50th anniversary.

“The World’s Most Magical Celebration” will begin on October 1st, 2021 (Disney World’s 50th anniversary!) and last for 18 months after. There will be celebrations in all 4 parks — and Mickey and Minnie will even get brand-new costumes! And now, we know even more about how the beloved park icons will transform for the occasion.
We recently told you that the icons in ALL 4 PARKS will undergo a mini-transformation into “Beacons of Magic!” Well, Disney released some new concept art, so we now have a better idea of what these “Beacons of Magic” will look like.

In EPCOT, we’ll get new lights shining across the reflective panels on Spaceship Earth. These will connect and look like a starry night sky. Oh, and did we mention this particular mini-transformation is PERMANENT? Disney confirmed that this look will stick around past the 50th anniversary celebrations.

The Tower of Terror in Disney’s Hollywood Studios will get a makeover, too! We’ll get some “special new touches” as the Hollywood Tower Hotel glimmers with EARidescence (only Disney would make up a word like that). Seems like we’re throwing it back to the glitz and glitter of a bustling young movie town!

And lastly, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will sparkle, too. A warm light will surround the Tree of Life as enchanted fireflies dance around it. Sounds pretty magical to us!

I get that COVID-19 has screwed up alot of plans, but new lighting on the weenies is the best they got? Not even a new Magic Kingdom show to announce? Or a parade? So it’s going to be new lighting, maybe some cupcakes and a rehash of the shimmering Cinderella blue of the castle as a trending ear band color.
To me, the park “icons” are: Cinderella’s Castle (Magic Kingdom), Spaceship Earth (Epcot), Tree of Life (Animal Kingdom), but not Tower of Terror in Hollywood Studios. I wish they had something else like before: the sorceror’s hat, the earful tower, or…?
How about a 4 picture collection or a collage poster, but of Disney quality and price of course
Our family will be in Disney world to celebrate the 50th anniversary! It is a wish granted to our daughter who had a malignant brain tumor and was healed. We are super excited😊
The celebrations for the 50th anniversary look outstanding and they will hopefully ear-mark the start of the world’s exit from the virus. We’re delighted the celebrations will go on for 18 months and give many more people the chance to see this spectacular event.
