UPDATE:Â Kali River Rapids resumed normal operations later in the day.
A Disney World ride was having some technical difficulties today.
Sometimes, we’ll see rides close temporarily for issues. Other times, they have to be evacuated for some reason or another! Such was the case at Kali River Rapids in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
When we passed by Kali River Rapids today, we saw that it was temporarily closed.
A Cast Member explained that the ride was in fact being evacuated, and that the Reedy Creek Fire Department had to get involved to help guests out. There was no mention of why the ride was having problems, or what the evacuation process looked like. When we got a peek at the rafts, all of them were empty.
The fire department does not usually have to get involved in evacuations, so something was definitely out of the norm. Nonetheless, guests were able to wait at the ride exit to reunite with the rest of their party after the evacuation.
As of now, the ride remains temporarily closed. We’ll keep you posted as we receive any more updates or details, so stay tuned to DFB.

They may have had a guest who is disabled on a raft. As a former GSM there, that would be a reason to request assistance from ReedyCreek.

Hmmm, that is very interesting… perhaps a guest is distress beyond Disney Cast member expertise.
