It’s almost Mother’s Day… HOORAY for MOM!!

Disney is celebrating big with TONS of limited-edition treats, fun Brunch options, and even a Magic Shot with Mrs. Incredible (aka Elastigirl)! We’ve been trying all of the Mother’s Day treats around the Disney World parks and resorts (seriously… ALL of them), and today we’re also checking out a cupcake at Disney’s Contemporary Resort!

Over at Contempo Cafe, you can grab the Mother’s Day Red Velvet Cupcake from now until May 9th!

This truly pretty-in-pink treat is made with a red velvet cupcake, cream cheese filling, and buttercream icing topped with a fondant rose and garnished with a Mother’s Day chocolate plaque.

The rose makes an especially lovely touch, don’t you think? And the details on the chocolate disc add subtle pops of color, as well.

Now, at a glance, this cupcake looks very heavy on that buttercream…

Cream Cheese Buttercream for Days…?

But it’s actually a little deceptive, because upon digging in, you’re actually greeted with a LOT of the red velvet cake with a sweet cream cheese center!

RED VELVET!

Now, the red velvet cake is soft and spongy… but it was also dry, TBH. And the cream cheese center was almost solid from being chilled. Quite simply, it didn’t taste fresh, and the basic light cocoa flavor just isn’t as rich and memorable as the chocolate cake that makes up the Mother’s Day Cupcake we enjoyed just a stroll away at Capt. Cook’s over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

But if you do so happen to be at Disney’s Contemporary Resort this weekend and want to present Mom with a rose (even one made of icing, our favorite kind!), you can grab this cupcake for $5.99 at Contempo Cafe.
