There are a LOT of refurbishments and construction projects going on all over Disney World.
In terms of the hotels, last year Disney announced that guest rooms at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort would be getting a Moana-inspired makeover. Later, we saw that some guest rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort would be refurbished and “reimagined” this year. We’ve seen construction ongoing for this refurbishment, but no specific details about what those refurbished rooms would look like or be inspired by had been shared…until NOW!
When Disney shared a first look at the Moana-inspired rooms coming to the Polynesian, it noted that “This exciting progress is part of the overall evolution of our Disney Resort hotels, as we infuse even more Disney touches across our collection – just in time for ‘The World’s Most Magical Celebration,’ beginning October 1st, 2021, in honor of Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary.”
That got us wondering…what other “Disney touches” will be infused across Disney’s Resort hotels? And now, it seems we finally know (at least a bit of) that answer!
Disney has just announced that guest rooms in the Contemporary Resort will be getting an Incredibles-themed makeover! Specifically, the refurbishment will enhance the retro-modern aesthetic of the hotel evoking Tomorrowland with a dash of something Incredible!
That’s right — soon you’ll spot decor and other things inspired by your favorite super family throughout select guest rooms at the Contemporary! Picture it: you could stand inside of your room, surrounded by some Incredibles theming, and shout “where’s my super suit?!?” (referring, of course, to your perfect Disney park outfit with fabulous Mickey ears).
Here’s a FIRST LOOK at one of these refurbished rooms!
According to Disney, all 9 floors of the guest rooms in the tower are being completely refurbished. Once the tower guest rooms are complete, work is set to begin on the rooms inside the Garden Wing out on the shore of Bay Lake.
Disney notes that the rooms “will blend a sleek Monorail motif with some favorite characters from Pixar Animation Studios’ “Incredibles” films, including Jack-Jack, Frozone…
…and Edna Mode.”
It looks like these rooms will be full of all kinds of unique details including decorations in the drawers that will make you feel like you’re getting ready for your next mission…
…and designs in the closet that’ll make you feel like you’re just one of the family!
You’ll even find the Incredibles in the curtains!
There will be new custom artwork in guest rooms and along guest corridors with a modern and futuristic style.
Here’s a look at what the bathrooms look like in these refurbished rooms.

@disneyparks We’re unmasking the new Incredibles themed rooms at Disney’s #ContemporaryResort ✨ #Disney #DisneyParks #DisneyWorld #Incredibles #RoomTour
Disney’s website has been updated to note that from July 16th through late September 2021, front desk and concierge services at the Contemporary will actually be located on the second floor as the guest rooms and first floor lobby undergo refurbishment.
We’re on the lookout for more updates about these reimagined rooms. Let’s just hope Edna Mode approves of the design (and that there are no capes anywhere).
Currently, the Disney World website notes that “Starting in April 2021, Disney’s Contemporary Resort will begin a refurbishment to reimagine Guest rooms. While some Main Tower rooms will be unavailable during the refurbishment, most resort areas and amenities will still be available for Guests to enjoy.”
When we first spoke to a Cast Member in January of this year, they noted that the Contemporary Resort would be undergoing refurbishments in the Main Tower Guest Rooms from April through September of 2021. The Disney website notes this as well now. Disney has also shared that the new decor in the refurbished rooms will debut this fall. But, of course, refurbishment and construction timelines and details are subject to change.
If you’re planning to stay at Disney’s Contemporary Resort during the upcoming months, just be aware that these refurbishments will be going on during that time and that might limit the availability of some rooms at the Contemporary. The construction can also make some of the spaces in the Grand Canyon Concourse area in particular very noisy.

Also at the Contemporary, The Wave…of American Flavors will soon be closing ahead of the 50th Anniversary, so keep that in mind if you’re planning to stay at this resort in the upcoming months. Disney has shared that this spot will be closing to “make way for a reimagined dining experience in time for the Walt Disney World 50th anniversary celebration.”
We’ll be on the lookout for more information about all of the work going on in the Contemporary and let you know if we spot any updates!

Mr . JOHN says
Incredible s rooms at the Contemporary the theme is very lite . I though it would be more themed than it is but the Contemporary is more sutel hotel . It is not like the All Stars but paying for a more expensive hotel the theming should be more .
Karen S Phelps says
I liked the old rooms that had a hint of Mickey at most. This sort of theming is for those at the value hotels, when I stay at a deluxe, I expect luxury, not characters in my room.
Hoops says
A sterile feeling like in a hospital room. No thanks.
Lisa says
I agree with others that the new Incredibles theme looks rather sparse and cold. Feels like a value resort not a premium one.
The prior decor always made me feel like I was living in Walt’s future city vision. Similar to the feel at the end of Epcot’s Spaceship Earth ride. To me, I felt the mat theme was more appropriate for the “futuristic “ Contemporary. Plus, it was luxurious. Especially on Club level.
Don’t feel it delivers for the price anymore. 🙁
Rory says
Well I realized they are people who want to be hitting the face with Mickey mouse and other characters every place they go in Disney some people would rather have luxury that they are paying for and something inspired by the incredibles is something that belongs in the value family resort not the contemporary
