UPDATE: Both attractions have since reopened!
Hello from Magic Kingdom!
We were making our way around Magic Kingdom in Disney World today to find these two Frontierland rides closed, so if you’re on your way to the parks you might want to read on!
This morning in Magic Kingdom, the bridge to both Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain was closed, as were the rides.
The My Disney Experience app lists the rides as “temporarily closed.” The bridge has since reopened, but both rides remain closed.
Cast Members advised us to “check back later,” as there is no current estimated time for either of the rides to reopen. We do not know the reason for the ride closures or previous bridge closure, and we overheard a Cast Member say, “it’s going to be a long while.”
Attraction closures happen daily throughout the parks, so they are very normal. But it is a bit strange when two attractions right next to each other close — especially for this long!
See which Disney World rides are CLOSED for refurbishment in Disney World this week!
We will be keeping a close eye on this today and be sure to update you if the bridge and rides reopen! Keep reading DFB for all your current Disney Park news!

Hello,
This most likely has nothing to do with the Splash Mountain, bridge, and Thunder Mountain closures, but we were there in late June and there was an alligator under the bridge. The cast members were aware of her and it was their first sighting of her that day according to the cast member I spoke to. She was not very large and it seems like it would be easy to catch her, but maybe they lost track of her with a hands off policy. I thought that they should call her Allie, but they had already named her. The name escapes me now.
