It’s a VERY big day in Disney World, and we hope you’re feeling the spooky vibes!
Yep, it’s the first day of the all-new Disney After Hours Boo Bash event in Magic Kingdom! This event is replacing Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party this year and it’s set to be full of spooky sights, scary treats, and a lot of fun. Ready to see it all? Join us as we report LIVE from night one of Disney After Hours Boo Bash! And follow along ALL night as we will be updating this post with every festival detail.
Boo Bash Dates and Pricing
Disney World’s After Hours Boo Bash events started tonight (August 10th) at Magic Kingdom and will be available on select dates through October 31st. Separate tickets are required for this event and they range in price from $129.00 to $199.00 depending on the date. Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members can get a $10 discount on ticket dates in August and September.
Boo Bash takes place from 9:30 PM to 12:30 AM on select nights in August and September. On most other nights in September and October the event starts at 9:00 PM and runs through midnight. But, guests with a Boo Bash ticket will be able to enter Magic Kingdom as early as 7:00 PM on their event night.
Tickets for select dates have been selling out though, so if you are interested in attending this event and haven’t gotten your tickets yet, you’ll want to get them soon.

Alright, let’s get into the fun!
Getting Started
When you arrive at Magic Kingdom for the event, you’ll want to check in at the Main Entrance. Check-in starts at 7 PM.
If you’re already inside of Magic Kingdom ahead of the event’s start time, you can check in near Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin…
…or near Tortuga Tavern.
When you check in, you’ll get a wristband. This helps identify you as a participant in the After Hours event.
Crowds
Let’s just say we weren’t the only ones heading to Boo Bash tonight!
The event does have a limited capacity, however, so we’ll be keeping an eye out for how many guests ultimately are left in the park once the event officially begins at 9:30 PM.
Update: Here’s a peek at the crowd level in Adventureland at around 9:45PM.

There were some guests, but some large open spaces as well.

Next, it’s time to grab a Boo Bash map!
The map shows you event highlights…
…a list of the attractions, merchandise locations, and food & beverage locations that will be open during the event…
…a look at the event-exclusive entertainment, character sightings you can expect, details about the special photo ops that are available, a list of the complimentary treats you can enjoy, a list of the specialty items you can purchase…
…and more!

Let’s GO!
Costumes
Guests young and old can dress up for Boo Bash, but Disney has specific costume rules for guests ages 13 and under, and guests ages 14 and older that apply to the event. Before heading out, be sure to check that your costume meets all of their guidelines.
While we were in the park today, we spotted some guests dressed up in their bootiful costumes.

— AJ Wolfe (@DisneyFoodBlog) August 11, 2021
And the guests aren’t the only ones dressed up! We also spotted Cast Members wearing their Halloween-themed outfits.
But, truly, can anything beat the Cast Members over at the Haunted Mansion?! Even the ghost dogs were out and about for tonight’s special event!

During Boo Bash, however, guests will also be treated to some special lighting and music to set the spooky tone. Over in Tomorrowland, we found spider webs and spiders being projected onto some of the rock walls.
Cinderella Castle even has some lighting that casts it in a “spectral glow.”

If you’re looking for allergy-free options, those are also available.
During our time at the event today we found the allergy-friendly treat center near the Hall of Presidents. When you walk into the area, they will ask you how many bags you need. Then you’ll just head to the counter and pick what you want.
Then the Cast Member will place the items in your bag and you’ll be on your way!
If you visit certain treat locations prior to picking up an allergy-friendly blue bag, however, you may be provided with a token to redeem at the Allergy Friendly Center, so just keep that in mind.

Will you be heading to After Hours Boo Bash? Let us know in the comments!
Skylar Bree says
Oh, this is so awesome! Thank you much for updating us on the event. My mom, grandma, and I are doing our DisneyWorld girl’s trip in 10 days and I ending up adding on these extra Boo Bash tickets thanks to DFB’s reporting! We’ll be there the 27th in full Beauty and the Beast gear. I’ll be in Belle’s village dress and my mom and grandma will be Cogsworth and Mrs. Potts, respectively. Clearly, they are troopers for allowing my 28-year old self live out my Disney dreams 😅
(In my defense, we did B&tB last year for Trunk or Treat at our church so we already had the costumes 😂)
DFB Sarah says
Skylar, that sounds like a BLAST! Have a spooktacular time!
Caroline says
Nearly crying reading this, we were supposed to be here after having to postpone our trip from 2020 to this year but we’re from the UK so we’re still not allowed in to the US….postponed for another year but disney couldn’t give us availability for August so we’re now booked for June and going to miss out on any Halloween celebrations. Gutted 🙁
Margaret Zukoski says
Hmmm…the price range is $129 to $199…..for THREE hours? With NO Headless Horseman and parade? No thank you….way too much for way too little…..
Brandon says
Absolutely not.
I checked the ride times during the event and I had a friend at the event and your app must be fibbing. Because what you wrote in your review and what my friend experienced were totally different.
Just as with all After Hours events, the ride times I witnessed were MUCH longer than 5-25 mins.
Plus some of those pictures you posted had extremely large lines.
With all of that plus nearly all the entertainment, 3 hour run time, no fireworks or stage show, and long wait times… and the, Times-2 price tag vs MNSSHP… Just absolutely not.
John says
OMG this is the lamest and biggest rip-off since the Villains fiasco several years ago. No parade, no Halloween fireworks, no special shows? Lots of things to eat, characters in costumes, and some projections – shame on you Disney for putting so little effort into this event only to make lots of money from people who are desperate to experience something…anything similar to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween! Save your money for next year…IF it comes back?
Picc2 says
Wow, a fully packed report with everything. It almost felt as though I was there especially with all the videos. It is still just too hot to celebrate Halloween for me. I cannot believe the $30 to $75 price hike of the tickets this year. Thanks for a great report.
Margaret Zukoski says
Definitely agree with John! HUGE ripoff! BUT it won’t change unless people refuse to pay! This Halloween thing is definitely not worth it at all! What is wrong with people who continue to pay for almost nothing?
John says
Margaret – you are 100% right. Disney knows that people will ALWAYS pay no matter what, even for much less of an experience. Why no parades? Why didn’t they replace the night time parade before Covid? The flowers (no hanging baskets) and landscaping are STILL minimal. Many things are STILL not opened. What about Fantasmic? Only first class resorts can now take advantage of magic hours (how elitist). No more Magic Express or special handling of luggage – could go on and on. Tired of Disney’s excuses too after seeing what Sea World and Universal have done – like night and day! Universal is working on their new theme park and the other Universal properties are practically running at 100%. Everything is open at Sea World and the park looks beautiful!
Until people protest by not going or spending so much, Disney will continue to cut back and pocket their savings. I wish the Orlando Sun or some other source would print an article that goes viral to shame Disney to stop their penny pinching policy at the cost of the guest’s experience. “PAY MORE AND GET LESS” Walt would be so ashamed!
Margaret Zukoski says
John, you are SO right! IF people would only declare a moratorum and stay away from Disney for about a year or 18 months, they would have to come back to reality with their prices…..It’s a disgrace!
