It may feel like Disney World has been celebrating the holiday season for weeks now (after all, the first night of Disney Very Merriest After Hours was way back in early November!), but we’re still seeing new and returning seasonal treats pop up around the parks and resorts!
Several treats debuted today, including the Elf Dome Cake! Next up, we’re heading to Flame Tree Barbecue to snack on a returning sweet.
If you’re all about Disney World cupcakes like we are, then you’ll want to make note that the December cupcake over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is their Menagerie Cupcake!
Just like previous years, it’s made with Gingerbread Cake with Cream Cheese filling, topped with Frosting and a cute edible white chocolate polar bear decoration. It looks identical to what we remember.
No matter the weather in Central Florida, this cupcake will make you feel like you’re in the middle of the tundra. Before we took our first bite, we noticed right away that this is an easy cupcake to photograph (just look at how cute that little guy is!).
The polar bear decor fits in perfectly with the holidays at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, especially since the Merry Menagerie puppets returned this year! As far as taste goes, the gingerbread cake was a standout to us, and the cream cheese filling was a perfect complimentary flavor.
While we enjoyed the frosting last year, however, it came across as just okay this time around. It was a little on the plain side to us, and we would have preferred a more exciting flavor like cinnamon, or really any holiday-based flavor aside from just boring old vanilla. If you love gingerbread, however, we think you’ll enjoy this seasonal treat a lot — it’s certainly the prominent flavor!
The Menagerie Cupcake will be available in Animal Kingdom all month long for $5.99. We’ll be back with even more seasonal treats as the holidays continue at Disney World, so be sure to follow along!
