Prepare all you want, but sometimes the Florida heat is A LOT to handle!

Tree of Life
Purchase all the water and expensive spray bottle fans in the parks that you can, you’ll still find that facing a 90-degree day with 100% humidity is enough to make anyone question when they are spending thousands of dollars to melt like Olaf in Disney World. But, luckily, there are a few snacks that provide you with that little extra relief (and sugar boost) to get you through. And, today we noticed that one of our favorite Quick Service spots to cool off was open once again in Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
Caravan Road isn’t always open, but when it is, they serve up one of the best snacks to bring your body temperature down — shaved ice! In the past, we’ve tried their Mango Passion Fruit Shaved Ice, and they just added another flavor to their menu in preparation for the summer.

It’s open!
Today was day 2 of Caravan Road’s soft opening according to Cast Members so we snuck in during their VERY limited hours (which they don’t even list on the website yet!) to try the new Watermelon Shaved Ice! And, we’re so glad that we did because it was EXACTLY what we needed to take a break from the morning sun.
But, does the watermelon flavor fall flat like so many other watermelon-flavor concoctions in Disney World?
We were actually really impressed with the watermelon flavor in here! Instead of tasting artificial or overly sweet like a Jolly Rancher, we thought that it had a taste that was most similar to real watermelon juice.

Watermelon Shaved Ice!
We’ll definitely be back for more once Caravan Road opens with more regular hours this summer! Keep in mind that you likely won’t find this spot open much right now, but we’ll keep an eye out for what the hours of operation are, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for the latest!
