While we here on the team still miss Disney’s Magical Express service every single day, we are glad there are options to help make getting to Disney World easier than taking a rideshare or taxi from the airport.
Mears Connect is the main one, but what about if you’ve got an extra-long trip and you’ve got a TON of luggage? Do you need to lug it all around yourself to and from the airport? Well, if you’re staying at select airports, the answer is no, and now another hotel has been added to the list!
Disney has just quietly added another hotel to the Luggage Services section of the Walt Disney World website. The service is officially called Airport Luggage Transfer and is where guests staying at select Disney Resorts Collection hotels can use this pilot program, provided by BagCheck, to transfer their luggage to and from Orlando International Airport. The catch? It’s only certain hotels, and only certain airlines.
Currently, the list of airlines participating in this program is:
- American Airlines
- Southwest Airlines
- Delta Airlines
As for the Disney World hotels participating, the list is:
- Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort (NEWLY ADDED!)
- Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Yes, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is the newest addition to the list, and we’re hoping that means more hotels will soon be added. How does this work when you’re arriving at Disney World, you ask? Well, here are the steps to follow:
- Fill out the registration form for the Airport Luggage Transfer at Disney service anytime from 30 days to one day (24 hours) prior to your departure flight. You will need your Disney Resort confirmation number and your flight confirmation number when you register — be on the lookout for a confirmation email.
- If you registered more than 7 days before your flight, you will receive luggage tags in the mail. If you registered less than 7 days before your flight, you will not receive luggage tags, but your bags will still be delivered to your Disney Resorts Collection hotel. (Note: You will still be able to track your bags (via the link in your confirmation email) even without luggage tags.)
- Check in to your flight as normal and pay any necessary baggage fees.
- Head to the airport and follow the airline’s directions for dropping off luggage.
- When you arrive at Orlando International Airport, skip baggage claim and head directly to Walt Disney World Resort.
- Allow up to 4 hours from your flight’s arrival time for your luggage to arrive at your Disney Resorts Collection hotel. Once you arrive, you may pick up your bags from Luggage Assistance/Bell Services in the hotel lobby area. You may also use your in-room phone to contact Luggage Assistance/Bell Services to have your luggage delivered directly to your room. Gratuities are not included.
When it comes to leaving the hotel, these are the steps to follow:
- Check in for your flight online starting 24 hours prior to departure and pay any necessary baggage fees via your airline’s mobile app or website. For a more streamlined experience, leave all inbound tags on your bags.
- Your luggage must be delivered to Luggage Assistance/Bell Services between 24 hours and 4 hours prior to your flight’s departure time. You may drop your bags off yourself, or for your convenience, you may use your in-room phone to contact Luggage Assistance/Bell Services to have your luggage delivered directly to the drop-off area. Gratuities are not included.
- Bring a valid government-issued form of photo identification to the lobby area of your Disney Resorts Collection hotel, as you will need to show it, along with your boarding pass, in order for your luggage to be dropped off.
- Head to the airport, skip the check-in line, enjoy your flight, and pick up your bags at baggage claim when you arrive at your final destination.
This is a great service for those who don’t want to deal with their luggage too much coming to and from their resort and the airport. We’ll be on the lookout to see if more airlines or hotels are added, so be sure to stay tuned to DFB!
