Do you love Festival of the Lion King in Disney’s Animal Kingdom?

Festival of the Lion King
You certainly aren’t alone! The fan-favorite show returned to Disney World in May of 2021 and has had an interesting journey since then. The show returned under a new title called A Celebration of the Festival of the Lion King and a few things were missing like the iconic birds flying in the air and the tumble monkeys (which are set to return soon!). Showtimes for this fan-favorite attraction have been fluctuating recently, but several shows were canceled today.
That’s right, Festival of the Lion King has canceled showtimes for the rest of the day.

Festival of the Lion King
A Cast Member at the show told us that this was “due to technical difficulties.” This happened about a week ago where the show unexpectedly had its last performance at 1PM. There are typically 8 shows per day, however in April the showtime schedule will change just slightly. Today, the showtime board only lists times through 2PM.

Today’s reduced showtimes
The Cast Members did not go into detail about how long Festival of the Lion King would be affected by these technical difficulties, but the regular showtime schedule is still listed on the Disney World website for tomorrow. We’ll be sure to let you know if the schedule changes tomorrow.

We will continue to keep an eye out for updates at Festival of the Lion King! If this is an absolute must-do for you, we’ve noticed that the afternoon performances are canceled when technical difficulties occur, so consider seeing this in the morning! Stay tuned to DFB for more updates from Disney World.

A few years ago, the audio broke down in the early part of the show and guests were asked to leave. leave.
My friends and I were in to hurry out and happy we did not. Some of the cast came on stage and invited any remaining guests to join them for chats, autographs and photos. Best time ever at the A.K. Nice memory!
