EPCOT is currently undergoing a massive transformation that includes new rides, restaurants, stores, and more.
Some of the transformation has been completed, like Creations Shop, Connections Cafe and Eatery, Club Cool, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. But, other parts of the transformation either have a long way to go or have been put on pause. One of the attractions in progress right now is Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana. We’ve been keeping a close eye on construction, but Disney just shared a new look at some concept art for the area!
Journey of Water is in EPCOT’s World Celebration neighborhood and will be a lush exploration trail that allows guests to meet and play with magical, living water, according to Disney. Through this experience, guests will get to play and interact with water as it travels from the skies to the ocean and back again.
They say that water will have a personality of its own at the attraction, “helping guests learn how to protect the natural water cycle in a fun and engaging way“ and showing us the role we play in preserving water for years to come.
We’ve seen a look at some concept art for the attraction before, but now, Disney has shared a brand NEW image! Check it out below:
You can see Journey of Water down below, but let’s zoom in to take a closer look!
This shows more of the exploration trail Disney is talking about, and the water in arches above guests on the trail!
We also now have a better idea of the size and layout of the attraction, which we didn’t have before! Disney is still a long way away from finishing Journey of Water, but we can’t wait to see it when it’s done.
Here’s another look at concept art that has been shared for this experience in the past.
We’ve been sharing updates on the construction of this attraction and have seen some rock work recently going up.
Imagineer Zach Riddley took to instagram to share some more details on the upcoming attraction.

That looks like it would be a better fit an animal kingdom. Would be great to replace some defunct dinosaur land area. But either way it looks nice!
I agree with Julie. It looks like Animal Kingdom’s Oasis especially the lighting lanterns hanging above. I am all for them adding shady areas for shelter against the Florida hot sun. And everybody wants to see the EPCOT barrier maze gone. Finish it up Imagineers!
When is this feature expected to open?
I am loving all this new green space. I’m hoping that raised festival space will happen someday. Creating a true neighborhood feel. Essence of the original vision for EPCOT.
I’m sure many will criticize it because it isn’t a ride, but having something more relaxing like this with some shade will be a nice addition. The concept and IP may have tied better to Animal Kingdom, but it certainly will beautify that portion of the park.
This looks cool but a better fit for Animal Kingdom. They should have replaced Dino Land with this. Like Mary Poppins is a huge deal and she gets pushed to the back in the UK of all places. Makes no sense.
