This remarkable and truly immersive area of the park is themed after the James Cameron movie Avatar, and May 27th marks the land’s five-year anniversary of being open in Animal Kingdom. And now — thirteen years later — the world is finally getting an Avatar sequel. Disney just shared a brand-new teaser trailer for the film and we’re sharing the details!
Avatar was a smash hit when it was released in 2009, breaking multiple box-office records and inspiring an entire land in Disney World, boasting two rides, a restaurant, and so much more.

Production had gone through a bit of a rough patch due to the global pandemic-related shutdowns, but the film will officially be released on December 16th, 2022! In the teaser trailer, we get to see some familiar faces accompanied by even more new Avatars and characters.
Pandora is pretty any time of day!
The sequel is titled, Avatar: The Way of Water, and it appears as though a good majority of the film will be taking place in the water or in close proximity to it — a shift from the high-in-the-sky setting of the original movie. Check out the teaser trailer below!
