Disney World is constantly changing!
Sometimes we see those changes coming and sometimes we don’t. Last month, a few things definitely caught us off guard. Here are the three most unexpected things that happened in Disney World in August!
1. Magic Kingdom Fireworks Updates
Perhaps the BIGGEST surprise we got was a sudden extension to Disney Enchantment, the 50th Anniversary fireworks show at Magic Kingdom. A NEW section has now been added to the show right before the official start — and it features Walt Disney himself. It plays before the regular Enchantment fireworks officially begin.
The new intro honors Disney World’s 50th Anniversary by taking a look at some of the individuals who made it all possible — Walt and Roy Disney. With videos of Walt and Roy and archival footage of the Walt Disney Company, the new segment adds a bit of history to the show. What a cool addition to the show!

2. Fantasmic News
Now, we may have seen this one coming we just didn’t know WHEN it would happen. But, we’re SO excited to get the news that cast rehearsals have BEGUN for Fantasmic! in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
This EXTREMELY popular nighttime spectacular hasn’t happened since before the 2020 park closures and has been announced as returning this year. We’re on the lookout for an opening date, but this news could mean that Fantasmic! may be back SOON.

3. Changes to Disney Park Pass System
Another shock of the month came when Disney changed the way you book Disney Park Passes, the theme park reservations that are required along with admission to enter the parks. Now, the system lets you book for more than one ticket type at a time. So, you can now book Park Pass Reservations for both single-day tickets and Annual Passes together.
Another change that has been made is that you can now modify both your date and your park for your Park Pass Reservation WITHOUT canceling it first. There have been a number of other system changes to help with guest experience and you can learn about all of them here.
