Although we’re excited to have an opening timeline for TRON Lightcycle Run in Magic Kingdom, we really can’t wait for the Walt Disney World Railroad to return.
As you may know, the construction of the TRON ride has affected the railroad’s route, so it’s been closed for a while. We’ve seen a new tunnel built under TRON, which will be part of the railroad’s new path. Today, though, we saw A NEW update that could mean we’re one step closer to seeing the Railroad reopen!
Here’s the tunnel the Walt Disney World Railroad will go through.
Today, we saw NEW tracks leading into the tunnel, as well as some of those who are working on the construction there.
In case you were wondering, we caught this view of the new tracks when we were riding the PeopleMover, so if you’re wanting to see the TRON construction progress for yourself, that’s the way to do it!
Disney has not yet revealed a reopening date for the railroad, but we’re happy to see some progress made on its new route. TRON construction is what caused the railroad to close, however TRON is set to open sometime in spring of 2023 — hopefully the railroad will also be open by then!
In the meantime, if you want to keep up with the construction progress of TRON, be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more. We’re also let you know when we have an official reopening date for the Walt Disney World Railroad. We have seen testing on the railroad, so we know Disney World is gearing up for it soon!
Until then, there are plenty of other things to do in Magic Kingdom, so be sure to check out our ultimate 1-day plan for the park!

What a tragedy. Disney could have very easily built a protected tunnel under the Tron construction during the construction vs the 3 years since its shutdown.
The Shade of Uncle Walt and I are waiting patiently for our Railroad to open again! It’s been years too long.
Geeeeezzeee another long wait. my patience are running thin.
