Blink and You'll Miss This Major Disney Celebration!

Something incredible happened 94 years ago today — two stars of the stage and screen were BORN!

These two are having a birthday today!

We’re talking about the most iconic couple of all time, Mickey and Minnie Mouse. That’s right, in 1928, the pair appeared for the first time in the short Steamboat Willie. Now, they’re celebrating their birthdays in a big way — in both Disney World AND Disneyland!

Disneyland did what any Disney Park would do for a celebrity birthday — the park threw a HUGE party with a parade!

Some of Mickey and Minnie’s closest friends were in attendance, along with a LOT of guests.

Disneyland also made a HUGE announcement about the reopening of the revamped Mickey’s ToonTown — it will reopen on March 8th, 2023.

Over in Disney World, the celebration was a touch more subtle. Every year on this special day at noon, the Under The Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid queue has a hidden Mickey that you can only see for about 15 minutes. This only happens once a year when the sun lines up just so. Okay, that’s some Imagineering brilliance, right there.

It’s faint, but it’s there!

Meanwhile, over at Joffrey’s in The Landing at Disney Springs, you can get a free limited-time Mickey Mouse ripple art print on select beverages.

A new Mickey special, The Wonderful Autumn Of Mickey Mouse, also debuted today on Disney+ in honor of the big day. Many of Disney’s social media accounts were also celebrating.

Needless to say, today is a big day. If you’d like to celebrate, there are PLENTY of things to watch on Disney+, including the newest Mickey Mouse series. If you’re in a holiday mood, Mickey’s Christmas Carol is the PERFECT way to get in on the holiday spirit (and seriously, Scrooge McDuck AS Scrooge? Well, that’s genius!).
