The New Year's Day Crowds at Disney World Are … Interesting

Happy New Year!

Everyone seems to be heading towards the castle!

It’s officially 2023 and we’re celebrating the only way we know how — by spending the day in Disney World, of course. We’re taking everything in as the holiday season comes to an end, and apparently, we’re not the only ones — let’s see what the crowds are like in Disney World on New Year’s Day!

In case you missed it, we were in the parks last night on New Year’s Eve checking out the crowds, and could only imagine what today would be like. The parks have been pretty busy following Christmas, so let’s take a look at just how busy Disney World is on New Year’s Day!

Magic Kingdom has been booked up for theme park ticket holders and select resort hotel guests for a while, and when we got to the park this morning, we were shocked at the crowds! While there were areas in Magic Kingdom with a bit more congestion, like on main pathways around the park …

… other areas were pretty empty! Over in Tomorrowland, they even closed off parts of the PeopleMover queue because the line was so short.

This was surprising considering how busy the parks have been this past week. Similar to what we experienced over Christmas Eve and Day, there appeared to be more crowds in the parks around the holidays as opposed to on the actual holidays themselves. We were also in Disney Springs today, and the main places we saw crowds were in lines. Here, you can see guests getting ready to try out the new flavors at Gideon’s Bakehouse.

We also noticed another line over by the Aerophile! Despite the overcast weather, guests were still queuing up to hop on the flight attraction.

When it comes to New Year’s Day in Disney World, it looks like your typical popular day in the parks. We haven’t seen excessive crowds, but the parks are definitely far from empty.
