Pause whatever you’re doing. If you love cakes and Disney World, there’s a snack you absolutely MUST see.
Disney often has limited-time snacks available and now is no exception. Celebrate Soulfully is Disney’s way of celebrating “soul-inspiring experiences” and it gets a particular highlight during Black History Month in February. The event has actually brought a number of new snacks to the parks and resorts, and now we’re headed to one location at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter for an EPIC cake.
At Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory you can now find the Comeback Chocolate Cake! This is a slice of chocolate cake with a salty pecan-coconut topping, and it’s priced at $5.99.

One of our DFB team members tried this cake and when we asked them what was good about it, their response was to quite literally say “EVERYTHING.”
Now, our team member has some experience with cakes so they’ve had a LOT of good cakes in their life. Is it the best German Chocolate Cake they’ve ever had? Maybe not. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that this cake is SO, SO, SO good. In fact, they were honestly shocked at just how tasty this is!
They shared that it was better than most cakes they’ve had in Disney World and better than any cupcake they’ve had here too — talk about some good cake!
The cake is wonderfully moist (not dry like some cakes can be) and the filling was fantastic. There was a good distribution of coconut throughout and it wasn’t overly sweet (at least to us, but we could see it being a touch too sweet for those who aren’t a fan of sweeter treats).
Plus, it’s got some chocolate drizzled on top, along with those pecans, which make the cake even better! The portion size is also pretty good considering it’s $5.99.
Truthfully, we have zero complaints about this one. If you love German Chocolate Cakes, coconut, and chocolate, the “Comeback” Cake is one you could be coming back for time and time again!
But be warned, you’ve only got until February 28th to try this new treat, so be sure to grab it soon.

I think it’s a bit misleading to say “German-style” chocolate cake. That perpetuates the myth that this cake has something to do with Germany, which it does not. It is named for the inventor, Sam German, who developed the special chocolate used in the process.

Thanks, Betty! I learn something new every day!

Perhaps Disney should post a board that lists all of the tasty treats being offered for a limited time. When I go in the different eateries, I always have a problem finding what is new, and what will no longer be offered by an expiration date.
