Are you ready for one of our favorite EPCOT festivals?!
The 2023 EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival has officially started and we’ve got a LOT to check out. You’ll find a ton of food booths with tasty items, gorgeous topiaries to check out, merchandise to grab, and even concerts to watch. We’re getting started by checking out an oldie but a goodie — Bauernmarkt: Farmer’s Market!
Menu
You’ll find Bauernmarkt: Farmer’s Market over in the Germany Pavilion, and this year you’ll find the same dishes featured here at past festivals — but that’s certainly not a bad thing!
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!
Eats
First up are the Potato Pancakes with House-Made Applesauce for $5. This is a plant-based dish, and part of the Garden Graze again! In the past, we’ve thought the sweetness and saltiness of this item would be great for some, while others may struggle with the textures.
We loved this item this year! The pancake was crispy on the outside but nice and soft on the inside, and the applesauce tasted homemade to us with big chunks of apples.
If you’re looking for something more substantial, get a Potato Pancake served with Caramelized Ham, Onions, and Herb Sour Cream for $5.25. This item is NOT plant-based, so keep that in mind. We’ve loved this one at past festivals, especially the caramelized onions and herb sour cream.
We could eat this for breakfast, lunch, or dinner on the regular. The combination of the potato pancake with the salty ham, sweet onions, and herby sour cream is the bomb.
Last up for savory dishes is one of our festival faves — the Toasted Pretzel Bread topped with Black Forest Ham and Melted Gruyère Cheese. This beast is priced at $5.75 and it will certainly hit the spot if you’re craving some carby, cheesy goodness.
While we really enjoyed the flavors in this dish again this year, we thought the pretzel bread was a little tough! It could be because we waited to eat this last, but we didn’t find the bread to be as soft as it’s been in the past. Overall this is a solid pick and one we keep coming back to.
Craving something a little sweeter? The Warm Cheese Strudel with Mixed Berries is returning, and you can grab it for $4.75. It’s got fruit, so it must be healthy right??? As we expected, this did not disappoint. The pastry was warm and flaky, the cheese had the perfect hint of sweetness, and the berries were fresh. Not too sweet and is extremely delicious.
What are we washing this all down with???
Drinks
First, there’s the Apfelschaumwein: Sparkling Wine and Apple Liqueur, which is available for $10 — think of it like an alcoholic apple juice — but it is extremely appley! We’ve enjoyed it in the past, though, and is definitely something a bit more unique.
There’s plenty to choose from when it comes to beer here, like the Bitburger Premium Pils for $5.50/6oz or $9.50/12oz. You can get the Flensburger Dunkel for $5.50/6oz or $9.50/12oz, and for something a bit lighter, grab the Stiegl Brewery Radler Raspberry for $5.50/6oz or $9.50/12oz.
Or, grab these as part of a flight and get all three for $10! That’s what we opted for this time around.
We thought both the pilsner and the Dunkel were just alright — they both tasted like some pretty standard beers to us, which might be exactly what you’re after! The Radler was more along the lines of a cider, it was fruity and sweet.
Overall
There’s a reason this booth often garners a solid line of people, and we know we certainly keep coming back! Bauernmarkt: Farmer’s Market is an excellent option for salty, carby, cheesy dishes along with some great beer choices. Our favorites here are those delicious potato pancakes, and try that Radler if you’re looking for something refreshing and different!
There are no new items at Germany’s Bauernmarkt: Farmer’s Market this year! We’ve got potato pancakes, toasted pretzel bread, and warm cheese strudel! Wash it all down with a beer flight! pic.twitter.com/JxmPEweFvP
