If there’s one booth that you absolutely CANNOT skip at the 2023 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, it’s this one!
Experts know that there are a few very reliable booths at the Food & Wine Festival. The France booth is almost always a win in our books, and Mexico rarely disappoints. But the one that we know we can always count on 100% of the time is the Canada booth! Come with us, and we’ll show you why.
First thing’s first, we had to wait in a LONG line to get to the register at the Canada booth. This place is popular, and it’s one of the first stops when you arrive in the World Showcase. Is it worth the wait?!
Menu
Over at the Canada booth, you’ll find a couple of menu items very similar to ones from the signature restaurant in the Canada pavilion, Le Cellier. The famous Canadian Cheddar and Bacon Soup is available, along with Canadian Filet Mignon. Both are returning and have been at this festival booth for several years running now.
There are a couple of drinks on the menu here, which are also returning. Nothing is new, but honestly, we prefer it that way because the eats are practically perfect in every way.
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!
Eats
First up, we grabbed Canadian Cheddar and Bacon Soup, which is served with a pretzel roll. This is one of the menu items that counts for Emile’s Fromage Montage (the cheese crawl). You can get it for $6. Although the soup is a little bit heavy (which isn’t ideal for a hot July day), we can’t resist.
This was super rich and creamy with an amazing bacon flavor that added a little bit of saltiness. The pretzel roll was soft and pulled apart easily — there’s just no combination quite like bread and cheese, so you absolutely HAVE to dip that roll. It’s basically a requirement. There’s a reason this soup is a winner over and over again!
Next, we got the Canadian Filet Mignon served with mushrooms, Boursin Black Truffle & Sea Salt mashed potatoes and a Boursin Black Truffle & Sea Salt whipped butter. This is one of the pricier festival eats, at $9.75. We’ve really enjoyed this steak in the past, and we think it’s comparable to the ones you can find inside Le Cellier, even though it’s a fraction of the price (of course, the portion size is smaller, too).
This year, they added mashed potatoes on the side of this dish, and we LOVED it. The potatoes were herbaceous and creamy, the perfect side dish for a steak. The steak itself was super tender and buttery, and the mushrooms added a nice earthy flavor. The truffle sauce was complex, but we really wish that there was more sauce overall.
There’s a reason people love the food in Canada year after year, y’all. It’s GOOD.
Drinks
Both of the drinks at this booth are returning from years past. The Collective Arts Brewing Audio/Visual Lager from Hamilton, Ontario, is a light and refreshing beer. You can get it for $5.50 for 6oz or $9.50 for 12oz.
Also returning is the Château des Charmes Cabernet Sauvignon from Ontario, which is available for $7.50.
OVERALL
You can’t go wrong in Canada. You just can’t! Not when the two dishes on the menu are iconic items from Le Cellier! These are just genuine, delicious staples of the festival that we come back for over and over. It’s totally worth the wait, y’all.
Our one thought here is that this might be more of a fall season booth since these are hot, heavy dishes. Maybe wait until October to stop here instead of in the heat of July?
Oh, Canada! 🇨🇦 At this booth we tried:
