We’ve spent an ABSURD amount of money on souvenirs in Disney World.
Like, if we went back just over the last decade and tallied it all up with the members of our team, we wouldn’t be surprised if we could buy a CAR with that amount of money. And some of that is because we’re suckers for a cool merchandise collection, but some of it is because Disney souvenirs are just so darn expensive! Just when we think they can’t get any pricier, Disney goes and raises prices again (we’ve seen it happen a lot!). So today, we’re sharing the 6 souvenirs you should buy before Disney World raises the price…AGAIN.
Spirit Jerseys
We’re kicking off this list by talking about Spirit Jerseys! Back in 2021, these bad boys jumped in price from $69.99 each to $74.99, but now most adult designs will cost you $79.99 each. That’s $80, y’all! For a long-sleeve shirt!
The unfortunate thing is that most of the time, it’s not even Spirit Jersey weather in Disney World! They get pretty popular during the winter months, but otherwise, you’re probably buying something that you have to wait to wear until you get home. This is a great item to use that Annual Passholder merchandise discount on or to try and buy on sale on shopDisney.Â
nuiMOs
Back in 2021, Disney introduced the tiny little nuiMOs plushes, and at first, they were mostly just known for being overpriced. (They were $17.99 each at the time.) But recently, these itty bitty dolls have hit a bit of vogue, with people attaching them to the straps of their park bags and wearing them around like miniature companions.
Since they were released, they’ve had TWO price increases. They first went up to $19.99, but now they’re usually $21.99. You can sometimes get the older nuiMOs at a discount on shopDisney, but since they’re really popular currently, we would encourage you to buy one before they get another price hike!
Minnie Ears
One of the most classic Disney souvenirs is a pair of Minnie ears — they’re never out of style! Because of that, Disney World doesn’t seem to have a problem with raising the price on this accessory periodically.
In October 2022, most pairs of Minnie ears went from $29.99 to $34.99, marking a $5 price increase. We have a feeling that these will only get more expensive as time goes on, so if you see a pair you like, snag them while you can!
Droid Depot
Next up, we’ve got to talk about a souvenir that’s ALSO an experience. When Droid Depot opened with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019, it cost $99.99 per person to make a droid. In October 2022, that took a significant jump up to $119.99 per person.
You have to pay for each person who wants to build a droid, although the builder can bring one guest to come and observe the experience. The droids are customizable, so they’re a pretty unique souvenir, but that means that Disney can likely justify price increases more easily. If you’ve been waiting to try this out, do it before it gets more expensive!
Savi’s Workshop
The other big experience that got pretty pricey is building a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop. When Galaxy’s Edge opened, this cost $199.99 per person, but then it later jumped to $219.99. At the same time when Droid Depot increased, Savi’s Workshop got a SECOND price hike so it now costs a whopping $249.99. That’s 25% more expensive than when it opened!
Like Droid Depot, that’s the price you pay PER builder, though each builder gets a guest who can come inside and observe. We’ve seen this one get instant price increases in the past without much warning, so it’s another experience you should check off your to-do list if you’re on a tight budget.
MagicBands
And finally, let’s discuss MagicBands. A few years ago, the only option you could buy was a MagicBand 2, and the cheapest solid-color designs were $14.99 each. Plus, Disney World resort guests got a MagicBand for free with their stay. But then, Disney increased the price on those basic MagicBands to $19.99, took away the complimentary resort perk, and introduced the new MagicBand+.
Even though you can still buy the old MagicBands in the parks, you’ll more readily find the MagicBand+ around. It has interactive features and starts at $34.99 for simple designs, but the price goes all the way up to $64.99 for the most exclusive patterns! Resort guests get a small discount if the MagicBand+ is ordered through your hotel reservation, but either way, you’re shelling out a LOT more money than you used to.
So if you’re interested in getting a MagicBand+ for your next trip, you might want to go ahead and start shopping! This is one of those things that Disney could quietly increase the price on — just one design at a time.
Those are some of the souvenirs that you’d be best to buy NOW instead of waiting! Disney World gets price increases pretty frequently, and we don’t usually get much warning when it comes to merchandise. Stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates on all the price increases and tips for your vacation!
