Disney, you’ve been holding out on us.
It’s been a while since MagicBand+ first premiered at Disney World, and somehow we are still discovering new things about them!
At the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions convention held last month in Orlando, about 30,000 industry leaders gathered to discuss the latest trends in food, festivals, and rides. And then, there was a session with the title: “Is Cash Dead?”
Why would a theme park convention be taking on this economic issue? It turns out there are several reasons Disney World — and other attractions — would just rather not take your cash (most of the time).
MagicBand+ is the newest generation of MagicBands in Disney World. While normal MagicBands can serve as your park admission, hotel room key, Lightning Lane access, and even a method of payment (if you link them to your credit card), MagicBand+ bands have some extra features like lights and haptics that match certain shows, interaction with 50th anniversary statues, and access to a scavenger hunt in Galaxy’s Edge.
You can get MagicBand+ in all kinds of designs, and Disney just released a bunch of NEW MagicBand+ designs this week with several options perfect for celebrating! From Disney-centric events like EPCOT’s 40th anniversary to personal milestones like your first Disney trip, there are plenty of options.

And if all of that news has you PUMPED about Disney, then you’ll want to check out their latest merchandise online!
MagicBand+ has been all the rage in Disney World lately. The new bands are the next generation of MagicBand, and they come with some updated features, including interactions with the 50th Anniversary statues and a Bounty Hunter scavenger hunt in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. So why would you choose a normal MagicBand when these updated versions are available? There are actually a few reasons.
For one, regular MagicBands are usually cheaper than MagicBand+. Most MagicBand+ designs are $44.99, whereas normal MagicBands are usually around $29.99. Also, you don’t have to charge a regular MagicBand! (Although keep in mind that MagicBand+ will still function as a normal band if it’s not charged — it just won’t have the new features available.) So if you’re planning on sticking with the normal bands, you may want to take a look at 7 NEW MagicBands that Disney just released online!
